The Communications Associate is responsible for Texans Care for Children’s data analytics and digital strategy to grow and engage our audience across multiple external communications platforms including our website, email marketing, content management system, and social media. This work will be in collaboration with the communications and development departments.

Texans Care for Children is a statewide, non-profit, non-partisan, multi-issue children’s advocacy organization based in Austin. We develop policy solutions, produce research, and engage Texas community leaders to educate policymakers, the media, and the public about what works to improve the well-being of Texas children and families.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze data on email content management system, donor database, website, action alert system, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Develop strategies to grow our online audience and strengthen engagement across all platforms.
  • Track and analyze the performance of organic and paid social promotions and email campaigns and generate reports.
  • Follow digital marketing industry trends and research new tools, platforms, or channels.
  • Identify targeted audiences for key digital campaigns. Manage current audience lists and maximize segmentation to boost engagement.
  • Create detailed reports for fundraising campaigns, including mailing lists, year-over-year comparisons, lapsed donor reports, etc.
  • Track giving trends to increase donations and promote donor retention.
  • Maintain online donation forms and related fundraising campaign webpages. 
  • Assist with other communications and development projects as needed, which may include live streaming events, audio/video, and other technical support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or public relations. Those experiences may include internships or staff positions with nonprofit organizations, media outlets, PR firms, government agencies, colleges/universities, for-profit companies, members of the Legislature, other elected officials, campaigns, and volunteer/student organizations.
  • Digital marketing and social media experience with email marketing platforms, Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing management and analytics technologies (Hootsuite or similar, Google Analytics, etc.).
  • Familiarity with content management systems and donor database systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with initiative.
  • Attention to detail and ability to assist with copyediting
  • Commitment to the mission of Texans Care for Children and passion for improving the well-being of Texas children.
