Summary / Objective

The Assistant provides operational support to the advocacy and programmatic work of ReadyNation and Mission: Readiness, in order to mobilize business and retired military leaders at the local, state, national and international levels. S/he makes the organizations look good both within and outside CSA.  


Essential Functions: 

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Works 50% of time with the ReadyNation (RN) team and 50% with Mission: Readiness (MR)
  2. Manages new domestic and international membership information database (researching potential members, sending welcome letters, updating account information in Salesforce, etc.). Provides other administrative support, as directed.
  3. With input from the Communications team, supports social media strategy, including composing and sending Tweets, and updates website and Facebook content, as needed.
  4. Prepares and disseminates regular newsletters and other correspondence for Mission: Readiness and ReadyNation membership. 
  5. Helps prepare materials for meetings with policymakers, members, allies, etc. 
  6. Provides general operational and administrative support (e.g., tracking progress for funder reports, scheduling, expense reimbursement forms, etc.).
  7. Provides planning assistance and performs related tasks for press conferences and other special events, as directed. 
  8. Contributes to external written products such as publications and funder reports, and helps design compelling PowerPoint presentations for U.S. and international audiences.
  9. Helps arrange meetings, travel, meals, etc. for ReadyNation and Mission: Readiness members supported by our national staff.
  10. Supports other staff in DC and the state offices, as needed. 
  11. Other duties as assigned.


Competencies:

  1. Professional, motivated, energetic and organized individual.
  2. Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, writing, and interpersonal skills required.
  3. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrates a high level of attention to detail.
  4. Highly proficient with Google Office/Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  5. Experience with social media.


Supervisory Responsibility:

This role has no direct supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment:

This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and scan/fax machines.


Physical Demands:

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some packing and shipping of boxes is required. This would require the ability to lift boxes, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some flexibility in hours is allowed but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.


Travel:

Limited travel may be possible. 


Required Education and Experience:

High School diploma required.


Preferred Education and Experience:

Prior experience in a collaborative office environment is highly preferred.

Salesforce database or other CRM database experience a plus.
