Details: (Grade 4 - Researcher) – £40,886 (Grade 5 - Senior Researcher) - £48,176 per annum
The Europe Regional Office at the International Secretariat of Amnesty International is seeking to appoint a dynamic, experienced researcher to join the team on a fixed term contract for 12 months.
Please note we are advertising this position at either Grade 4 (Researcher) or Grade 5 (Senior Researcher); your offer will be depending on experience.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a research-based campaigning organization, investigating and documenting human rights issues is fundamental to our advocacy and lobbying work. The Europe Regional Office team now requires a lead expert on Hungary, to lead on the development and implementation of research and advocacy strategies to deliver impact in relation to agreed priorities, providing research expertise, research management, political judgment and analytical, communication and representational skills. You will be required to conduct and co-ordinate research activities, monitor, investigate and analyse political, legal and social developments and human rights conditions, give authoritative advice on these areas and prepare human rights action materials including the writing of the human rights reports.
With extensive experience of working in human rights, you must have first-hand in-depth knowledge and experience of working within this region and this country. You will also have experience of in-depth, on the ground human rights research. You’ll have a background in law, journalism, academia or activism with the ability to identify and thoroughly investigate those issues and ensure our voice has authority. You’ll be an excellent writer and will have the ability to understand and express ideas in English and Hungarian in a fluent, clear and concise way, both orally and in writing. You will need proven research and communication skills, impartial political judgement, coupled with strong strategic thought and a demonstrated commitment to human rights.
