·        Springboard To Opportunities is a 501©3 organization that connects families living in affordable housing with resources and programs to help with advancement in school, work, and life.

What Does It Take to Be a Community Specialist?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge/experience in community organizing
  • Excellent oral communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse partners including residents and property management
  • Excellent, writing, editing, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals/organizations from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Ability to create and manage programs and budgets to support families and children in affordable housing reach their goals in life, work, and school

What You Will Accomplish as a Community Specialist

  • Develop supportive professional relationships with residents in affordable housing to help enhance their quality of life
  • Encourage residents to take steps to achieve self-sufficiency
  • Facilitate meetings and social activities as desired by residents
  • Conduct outreach with families in the community, volunteers, and local community organizations who can support the work of Springboard To Opportunities.
  • Partner with local community service programs to provide services according to the needs and characteristics of residents
  • Develop and implement community programming that supports children and families in affordable housing reach their goals in life, work, and school
  • Track data for program reporting
  • Work with leadership team on grant applications
  • Collaborate, when requested, with Property Management to resolve any day-to-day challenges and/or unanticipated events
