New Economy Coalition seeks an Interim Development Officer to oversee all fundraising and revenue-generating activities for the organization. This position is responsible for coordinating the rest of the staff team and Board to meet NEC’s annual budget needs and long-term fundraising goals. As a member of a worker self-directed nonprofit, the Development Officer is a member of the staff General Circle, which oversees the management of the organization.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience that allows them to self-direct their work and come in ready to assess our current fundraising strategies for strengths and areas of improvement and to implement necessary changes.
New Economy Coalition is currently shifting our structure from a traditional top-down nonprofit organizational structure to a worker self-directed model. As we evolve the structure of the organization, we understand that roles, responsibilities, dynamics and expectations may be impacted and affect us each differently. With consideration to that, this position will start as interim with the opportunity to become a permanent position after 12 months if there is a mutual desire from the organization and individual in the role.
WHO IS NEC?
New Economy Coalition (NEC) is building the power and scale of the solidarity economy movement in the United States. Our national network of 200+ members are transforming the current system -- creating in its place an economy that places power in the hands of people, uproots legacies of harm, and preserves the planet. Our members represent a diverse cross-section of the solidarity economy movement, from worker cooperative developers and technical assistance providers, to community loan funds, think tanks, and policy advocates.
NEC is a fully remote organization. In a typical year, we expect staff to travel within the United States several times a year to staff retreats, conferences, and donor visits. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not currently traveling and are convening all programs virtually.
