Description

The Georgia Muslim Voter Project (GAMVP) is a non-partisan, non-profit (501c3) organization created to increase civic participation among American Muslims and educate our communities about the importance of voting. GAMVP’s vision transcends voter registration and education, aiming to firmly root Muslim voices within the political tapestry and make civic engagement a core pillar of our communities. Our mission encompasses cultivating an informed and proactive community that participates actively in diverse civic realms.

We are pioneering comprehensive nonpartisan programs to equip Muslims with tools for defending voting rights, shaping redistricting, engaging with elected officials, and molding the next generation of Muslim civic leaders and advocates. Our goal is clear: Empower our community to spearhead change and debunk misconceptions that Muslim values are at odds with American ideals. In 2024, we aim to reshape the Islamophobic narrative, positioning our community's concerns and priorities as quintessentially American.

GAMVP is currently seeking an experienced Organizing Director to join its team to help us build civic power for American Muslim communities in Georgia. The Organizing Director will report directly to the Executive Director and will manage a team of 4 community organizers to coordinate, manage, and execute comprehensive community organizing programs and work on strengthening relationships with community leaders and organizations. This is a hybrid position based in Atlanta, GA.

  • Facilitate the creation of resources and materials for civic engagement, outreach, and education.
  • Stay abreast of current events and policy decisions that affect campaign strategy.

Relationship and coalition building:

  • Build on existing community organizing programs and partnerships and create plans to expand outreach and establish new opportunities to work alongside community leaders and organizations through relational organizing, volunteer recruitment, and events.
  • Represent GAMVP at strategic conferences, and in coalitions and campaigns with partner organizations.

Staff Management and Leadership Development

GAMVP values the leadership development of its staff. The Organizing Director is responsible for the coaching and development of GAMVP’s full time organizers.

To support staff development the Organizing Director will:

  • Manage a team of 4 full time organizing staff to help them achieve their goals, including regular check-ins for goals and activity planning and feedback, and annual performance planning and review.
  • Provide regular feedback to organizing staff and incorporate organizer feedback to strengthen management practices.
  • Identify or lead training opportunities for staff development.

Development Coordination

Successful organizing efforts are also dependent upon funding and communications. The Organizing Director will partner with the Executive Director to ensure grant deliverables are met, tracked, and reported on in order to sustain the organizing mission of GAMVP.
