We are currently seeking an outstanding Family Worker (BA/BSW) to join our team in our nationally-renowned Early Childhood Center (ECC) to help our efforts on behalf of low-income children and families. The ECC is a model program and lab school for innovations designed to provide the best possible educational, developmental and social services to 141 very low-income preschoolers and their families--all eligible for Head Start--and to advance the field of early childhood education and development on a national level. We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and set the standard for comprehensive educational and family services in the preeminent Early Childhood setting. Our holistic approach prepares children for success in elementary school and in life by offering a seamless, age-appropriate curriculum that strengthens language, literacy, motor, social and emotional and cognitive development, as well as integrated Family Services. Our educational curriculum includes art, music, movement, swimming, farm to table food and many other components from our multifaceted settlement house. Our family services team, including both licensed social works and bachelor’s level staff, supports all the children and families in our Early Childhood Center and are the liaisons to our families and teachers.

Responsibilities: We have an opportunity for an outstanding family worker who will have diverse responsibilities: coordinate services for children in our program; provide comprehensive support of their families – from intake, assessment and evaluation through the transition to kindergarten; responsibility of some of our eight preschool classrooms; case management; family goal setting; home visits; in-class supports; and close collaboration with our teaching teams; represent the Neighborhood House with community partners, providers and the NYC Department of Education; and collaborate with other ECC staff on program-wide initiatives.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have outstanding experiences working with low-income young children and their families; the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high achieving environment; excellent written and communication skills; the ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and a commitment to achieving excellence on behalf of our children and families. We are particularly excited to interview candidates looking to pursue an MSW. Spanish fluency is strongly preferred.
