Position Summary:

The Director of Development works for the Executive Director and closely with assigned Board Committees to lead the effort in developing and implementing a Strategic Development Plan; track and maintain fund-raising program initiatives; develop the Major Gifts Program. , Capital Campaigns, overseeing The Director of Development, along with the combined efforts of the Development Team, is responsible for achieving the financial goals of the organization.


Essential Job Functions:

●      Ability to identify, cultivate and solicit major donors for capital and operational support

●      Develop and execute a strategic annual and long term plan for fundraising across the organization

●      To work with the E.D. Marketing Assistant to develop and implement a Marketing Plan for all areas of fundraising activities, public awareness our programs and brand through social media, print media

●      Work with Board of Directors to identify, cultivate and solicit major gift contributions from individual prospects among their colleagues and associates

●      Work with staff to identify opportunities to solicit support for programs through sponsorships

●      Develop and execute a stewardship program; plan Appreciation Dinners; work with E.D. Board to cultivate deeper ties with existing perspectives donors

●      Proactively identify potential new donors; set up opportunities for engagement for E.D., Board members and Major Gifts Committee

●      Serve as active and visible spokesperson to enhance recognition and support of Lunch Break

●      Develop a bi-annual direct mail strategy for engaging donors and increasing support

●      Work with department staff to prepare the yearly Development Operations Budget

●      Provide accurate financial projections for and financial reports

●      Work closely with to monitor and revenue forecasts on track

●      Provide leadership and evaluate development staff consisting of Development/Marketing Assistant, Development Associate and Grant Writer while nurturing their individual potential and supporting their ability to have an impact on the organization


●      Provide oversight of research, submission and reporting on Corporate and Foundation grants

●      Employ data analytics and utilize Salsa donor database to identify and prioritize growth opportunities

●      Ensure donor information efficiently and securely maintained and tracked

●      Ensure reporting systems complete, efficient, accurate and monitored for quality control. When appropriate, support the acquisition, installation and training of new software packages

●      Attend all relevant meetings with committees, management and staff

●      Serve as a member of the Development and Gala Committees

●      Ensure timely monthly board reports are submitted

●      Evening and weekend work required for meetings and events

●      Perform special projects and all other duties as assigned


Skills:

●      Exceptional interpersonal skills as well as established local network needed to maintain and develop existing/future donor relationships

●      Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write clearly and concisely; articulate and be persuasive

●      Strong knowledge of writing and successfully obtaining grants

●      Must demonstrate strong project management skills and be well organized

●      History of working collaboratively with various constituencies and departments

●      Proven leadership skills with the ability to provide guidance and direction to assigned staff and volunteers

●      Ability to take initiative, set priorities and work independently with minimal supervision

●      Must pay attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure

●      Knowledge of fundraising techniques, guidelines and strategies

●      Ability to grow and maintain strong corporate partnerships

●      Excellent computer skills, internet, social media, ZoHo knowledge of Salsa and/or other donor databases and donor search tools required

●      Experience in planning and executing events
