WestCoast Children’s Clinic (WCC) is looking for a Project Director to help develop and implement a new team-based model of care in Alameda County. The project, funded by the Tipping Point Foundation, aims to support transition aged youth (TAY) with foster care experience so they can attain housing stability, mental health support and community connection. The person in this role will help create a new pilot program in line with the vision and values for the program, oversee the program’s implementation, lead a team of care providers, and participate fully as a member of the care team.
Who are we?
WCC aims to improve the well-being of children and families who live at the intersection of racism, poverty, and systemic indifference. Our mission is threefold, namely to: provide community-based mental health services to children, youth, and their families regardless of their ability to pay; train mental health professionals; and use data to improve services and advocate on behalf of the young people we serve.
Working here means being part of an organization that is client-centered, trauma-informed, collaborative, and committed to justice and equity. We integrate direct service, training, policy, and research to root our work in the experiences of children and families and advocate for system changes that will improve the lives of young people.
Who are you?
Successful candidates like and enjoy working with adolescents and young adults, are committed to equity and inclusion, are experienced with providing direct services in a team-based model, thrive in collaborative environments, are responsive to program data, and are entrepreneurial and driven. As the person in this role will help build a new program from the ground up, successful candidates will be comfortable with ambiguity and helping to create answers for the team while staying committed to WestCoast’s values and the values of team-based care. Cultural humility is a must, and grit, tenacity, and sense of humor are a plus!
What’s the role?
The Project Director for the pilot team-based care program will help build the program from the ground up. This includes translating the values of team- and community-based mental health care into a service delivery program; leading a team of providers; providing supportive services to 50-75 TAY each year; and finding opportunities for advocacy and program sustainability. The Program Director reports to the Chief of Clinical Programs, and leads a team of seven providers (including a clinical supervisor, 2 mental health clinicians, a case manager, an intensive care coordinator, a peer advocate, and a family advocate), and will work in concert with our training, policy, and research departments to carry out the program. The Program Director has experience in a leadership role as well as facilitating and being part of teams with less hierarchy.
