Research Fellow, Healthcare

The Clayton Christensen Institute seeks a highly motivated individual to join its Healthcare Team to conduct research on a funded research grant related to the social determinants of health and to prepare a report on this research. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in business and the healthcare field and will have a familiarity with the work of the Institute, especially the theories developed by Harvard Business School Professor Clayton Christensen. The Healthcare Research Fellow will report to the Director of Emerging Research.

This is a one-year, grant-funded position with the potential for an extension depending upon funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop theoretical framework for understanding the interaction between the healthcare system and social determinants of health.
  • Understand the landscape of current interventions to solve challenges associated with social determinants of health.
  • Identify opportunities to deploy innovations to assist with social determinants of health as well as obstacles to innovation.
  • Monitor, analyze, and synthesize trends within the sector to help develop the Healthcare Team’s collective knowledge base.
  • Develop and manage the work plan to address the project deliverables for the grant.
  • Contribute to the Healthcare Team’s published blogs, case studies, and papers.
  • Collaborate with other Institute teams as appropriate for research and learning purposes.

Qualifications:

  • MBA or MPH with expertise in healthcare and/or the Theories of Disruptive Innovation.
  • Ability to independently manage a research project and track and communicate results.
  • Excellent writing skills, with proven ability to engage a targeted audience through a variety of communication channels (blogs, social media, white papers, etc.).
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of work experience.
  • Demonstrated strong research, writing, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with an entrepreneurial spirit and ability to cultivate relationships in the field.
  • Can-do attitude, collaborative spirit, and a keen desire to make a positive impact on the Institute and the healthcare industry.

Position Type:       Full-time 

Start date:               July 2021

Location:                 Lexington, MA preferred. A remote location is a possible option for the right candidate.

Compensation:      Salary will be commensurate with demonstrated experience. The Institute provides a comprehensive benefits package.
