JOB CLASSIFICATION  | Full-Time, 37.5 Hours Weekly, Non-Exempt 

REPORTS TO | Director of Youth Development 

We are seeking a career navigation instructor and coach to support PX Project’s personal development programming.

ABOUT US | PX Project is a workforce development fellowship program that serves Opportunity Youth in the Greater Houston Area. At PX Project, we facilitate the development of skills in career navigation, professionalism, and personal development. We believe that people learn best by doing and offer a culinary work-based learning program for our young people, or fellows, to support them as they navigate adulthood. 

We are determined to provide holistic support to our fellows. This includes employability skill development, social emotional development, and personal wellbeing support.

MISSION | We turn the kitchen into an immersive classroom for young adults to explore their identities, learn transferable skills, and open doors to their future.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Creative a supportive, and culturally responsive learning environment that encourages engagement and interaction 
  • Develop and maintain lesson plans that are aligned with program objectives and values 
  • Implement instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials as indicated by the course curriculum
  • Integrate social emotional learning strategies and practices into instruction and practices 
  • Manage fellow behavior and performance, including recognizing positive behavior 
  • Regularly complete and analyze holistic performance evaluations for each fellow
  • Provide fellows with ongoing feedback around performance
  • Provide fellows guidance and support with goal setting and achievement
  • Compile fellow work into portfolio in alignment with program requirements
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to best support program participants
  • Attend program meetings and participate in professional development
  • Attend and support PX Project events, as needed 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned 

Required Qualifications 

  • Associates degree or higher in related field required 
  • Interest in working with Opportunity Youth 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bilingual - English/Swahili, English/Spanish, or other languages
  • Teaching experience highly preferred 
  • Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and needs
