JOB SUMMARY:

The Marketing and Communication Manager is responsible for marketing the brand, as well as undertaking marketing projects for the benefit of our organization. She/he will take brand ownership, build brand awareness and drive incremental revenue. The marketing & communication manager will be responsible for organizing creative campaigns and events to promote and enhance our public image with the goal of strengthening our reputation and facilitating our continuous growth. 


REPORTS TO:

VP Community Affairs


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conceive and develop efficient and intuitive marketing strategies
  • Manage the ongoing marketing strategy and activation
  • Partner with Development Team to support fundraising
  • Get buy-in and participation from programs across multiple departments
  • Support departments in marketing best practices
  • Become the organization’s agent towards external parties such as media, stakeholders and potential clients and build strategic partnerships
  • Develop and execute communications campaigns (social media strategy) and manage ongoing content
  • Liaise with media and handle request for interviews, statements
  • Collaborate with marketing professionals to produce copy for advertisements or articles
  • Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership
  • Write copy for diverse marketing distributions (brochures, press releases, website material)
  • Source, commission and manage vendors as needed (e.g., graphic designers, web, PR, etc.)
  • Ad hoc support to promote the organization at key moments (e.g., fundraising gala, ribbon-cutting for new projects, etc.
  • Ensure  placement for our stories in media outlets
  • Monitor, measure and report performance of marketing campaigns, and asses against goals
  • (KPIs)
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4-6 years of experience supporting and leading marketing efforts
  • Solid understanding of project management principles
  • Familiarity with social media and web analytics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of strategic planning principles and marketing best practices
  • Experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Preferred: Experience working with/within nonprofits
  • Preferred: Graduate degree (especially an MBA, marketing or communications focus)
