Content Writer

Job Summary: The Content Writer is responsible for drafting the majority of written material RAINN produces, from newsletter articles to development/public awareness messaging, to website posts.

The content writer's responsibilities include publishing our monthly newsletter and additional web content, tracking website traffic and user engagement, and generating new materials. Ultimately, the content writer will ensure our published content is on brand and adds value.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage RAINN News' editorial calendar to ensure timely publication.
• Regularly audit trends around topics and web content for gaps and recommend new topics.
• Draft and edit content for the newsletter, website, and development and public awareness campaigns.
• Ensure all content is clear, compelling, and properly distributed across web, mobile and social platforms; and adheres to a consistent branding.
• Monitor website traffic and user engagement (e.g., conversations and bounce rates) and make recommendations to enhance.
• Conduct keyword and SEO research to understand visitors' needs and make content recommendations.
• Maintain the RAINN style and branding guides.
• Review and update published content as needed
• All other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications/ Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

• 1-3 years of writing and editing experience, writing for the web a strong plus.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
• Strong adaptable writing with a keen editorial eye, sharp instincts with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple and shifting priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Familiarity with SEO principles and keyword research tools, Google Analytics.
• Familiarity with content management systems (i.e; Drupal) and client management software (I.E; Salesforce/Pardot) and reporting capabilities.
• Experience using social media business, including familiarity with multiple and emerging social media platforms; experience drafting social media posts and developing associated images a strong plus
• Must be comfortable discussing issues surrounding sexual violence.
• Must complete and pass a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).
