Position Title: Bilingual Self Sufficiency Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Self-Sufficiency Programs

Classification: Full-time, exempt from FLSA; Evening and weekend hours may be required; 37.5 hours; Position requires a mix of in person and remote work.

Work Conditions: Frequently moves boxes and bags weighing up to 30 pounds; frequently ascends/descends stairs to complete job tasks; other evening and weekend hours may be required

Salary: $37,000 annually

Position Summary: The Bilingual Self Sufficiency Coordinator provides holistic support for Compass’s Career and Financial counseling services. This position works as a part of Compass’s self-sufficiency programs team doing a mix of direct client service delivery (career and financial counseling and workshops), program management (quality assurance, volunteer engagement, data management, community engagement), and organizational support. Hybrid work from home and in office is required for this position with COVID precautions in place to maximize safety of workers and clients.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Financial & Career Program Management (25%)

●   Manage, develop and document program processes to maximize utilization and accessibility, decrease barriers to participation, and ensure equity in service delivery to clients

●   Coordinate with agency staff, volunteers and interns to respond to all requests for Compass’s Career and Financial services including scheduling appointments, following up with clients, and making external referrals as needed

●   Manage and support volunteer Career and Financial Counsellors in providing high quality, trauma informed career and financial support services

●   Ensure that all services delivered are documented properly by agency staff and volunteers

●   Maintain detailed documentation of distribution of client incentives (e.g. gift cards) for program participation

●   Oversee collection of program evaluations from clients and other sources to inform future program development

●   Assist the Program Director with the timely and accurate filing of monthly program data reports, and the construction of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and ad hoc projection reports

●   Engage in strategic outreach efforts to promote Compass’s Career and Financial programs in the community and increase program participation from historically marginalized communities

●   Coordinate with communications team to create promotion materials for Career and Financial programs

●   Attend regular trainings on economic justice, consumer rights advocacy and other relevant topics and actively seek out continued learning on emerging community based wealth building practices


Direct Client Services (50%)

●      Provide one-on-one empowerment-based Career and Financial services to individuals and families. Common topics of discussion include:

○      budgeting/money management, building savings, reducing/eliminating debt, building/improving credit, navigating benefits (SNAP, SSI/SSDI, Health Insurance, etc.), taxes, job searches, resume building, interviewing for jobs, career changes, returning to the workforce, healing from financial/economic abuse, and much more

●      Facilitate financial and career groups/workshops in partnership with other community agencies

●      Refer clients to relevant external resources to support their career and financial needs and goals

●      Advocate for clients (with their permission) to ensure access to external resources and reduce unnecessary barriers to their career and financial goals


Organizational Duties (25%)

●      Support office operations by taking regular shifts answering the office phone lines weekly

●      Attend regularly and participate actively in all required staff, program team, and supervision meetings

●      Participate in all required trainings on topics including but not limited to Domestic Violence and Racial Equity

●      Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to support organizational health and program integration

●      Participate in the on-going maintenance of a clean, organized and welcoming facility and environment

●      Other duties as assigned by the Director of Self-Sufficiency Services.


Qualifications:

 

●   Clear understanding of and ability to communicate effectively about economic justice and oppression and its impact on individuals, families, and communities, including how race and gender impact access to economic opportunity

●   Practical knowledge of financial systems, career/vocational systems and financial and career education and support

●   Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including empathic and active listening, cultural humility, relationship/trust/rapport building, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively in diverse contexts

●   Demonstrated ability to work with diverse people and groups with identities and perspectives different from your own

●   Ability to identify barriers for clients in reaching out for support and connecting with community resources

●   Understanding of the impacts of trauma on individuals and ability to apply that understanding to program design and client interactions (preferred) -- willingness to learn and grow this understanding (required)

●   Familiarity with (preferred) or willingness to learn about the intersections of domestic violence and economic stability

●   Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a part of a team and independently, take initiative, balance and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects, meet deadlines, and complete detail oriented tasks with a high degree of accuracy

●   Facility with standard office operating software required (Microsoft Office or Google Suite), experience with collaborative software platforms for team operations preferred (zoom, asana, etc.)

●   Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish required

●   Must have access to reliable internet to perform job tasks (may use program office)

●   Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance. Reliable access to a vehicle preferred.
