As one of the largest global NGOs focused exclusively on coral reefs, CORAL has used cutting-edge science and community engagement for nearly 30 years to reduce direct threats to reefs and to promote scalable and effective solutions for their protection.

The Development and Marketing Team comprises a Development and Marketing Director, Associate Marketing Director, Associate Development Manager, Senior Grants Manager, and Development Coordinator. We are a nimble, highly organized and impactful team focused on raising individual, institutional, and corporate revenue for CORAL as well as driving awareness of CORAL’s mission and elevating the organization into a new realm of brand recognition.

Position Description

CORAL is seeking a creative and efficient Marketing and Communications Coordinator to join our remote team. This position will report directly to the Development and Marketing Director and will work in close partnership with the Associate Marketing Director and program teams. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in English and Spanish.

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will join the marketing team at an exciting time of growth and rebranding. The Coordinator will be responsible for developing content and creative strategies to enhance our brand presence. This role will develop digital content and track results for all social media channels, blog posts, bulk emails, videos, the website, Google Ads, and more. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Associate Marketing Director on overall organization marketing strategy and branding efforts, and with the international program teams to assist with their local marketing efforts and help communicate stories from the field. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Write, edit, monitor, and analyze social media content and various platforms to increase engagement, donations, and brand visibility, including Spanish-language channels
  • Write, edit, and produce diverse and compelling stories about CORAL’s work through blog posts, videos, photo, and more
  • Oversee digital presence, including developing and managing dynamic and timely web content for with a goal to increase traffic and grow donor funnel
  • Work with CORAL’s field teams in Honduras, Mexico, and Hawai'i to support programmatic communication needs, including developing appropriate communications strategies, copy editing newsletters, producing promotional flyers using pre-existing templates, developing content, and more
  • Support the writing, editing, and production of communication materials and collateral including, blog stories, newsletters (print and digital), annual reports, annual calendar, press releases, flyers, and brochures
  • Work effectively with external vendors, partners, and contractors
  • Establish reporting goals with the Associate Marketing Director to measure performance across all communications platforms
  • Maintain CORAL Style Guide and key messaging documents to ensure consistency in visual and written communications across the organization
  • Work closely with the Associate Marketing Director to assist in the implementation of a comprehensive and proactive communications strategy that builds support for CORAL; implement plan across core channels

Minimum Qualifications
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, marketing, PR, journalism, or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years of related Marketing work experience in an office or virtual office environment
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a strong grasp of English grammar and a critical eye for detail
  • Strong problem-solving, research, and analytical skills
  • Technical proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canva, Hootsuite, and Asana
  • Familiarity with compiling marketing analytics from Google and social media platforms, and using data to analyze the success of marketing campaigns
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional project management skills
  • Prior experience balancing multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Self-motivation, the ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks independently

Preferred Qualifications
  • Nonprofit marketing and/or communications experience
  • Knowledge of graphics (photo/video) software for print and web publication
  • Basic proficiency with HTML
  • A good sense of humor, strong interpersonal skills, and a team-player mentality
  • Commitment to the mission of CORAL
