The Supervisor of College Services will be responsible for supervision of College Advisors and day to day operations for our college access and success services at our partnership Talent Search high schools, The Door, and related collaborative projects within The Door and between The Door and University Settlement. College Paths seeks to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school or equivalent and enroll in post-secondary education institutions of their choice. In this role, the Supervisor of College Services will develop and maintain relationships with administrators at local high schools, school districts, post-secondary institutions, TRIO partners, and college access consortiums. They will monitor college access and retention service delivery, oversee the development of tutoring and mentoring programming in the Resource Center, and ensure that young people in Talent Search receive appropriate services based on their individual needs.
- Supervise staff of college advisors, learning strategist, coach program assistant and part-time tutors providing individual and/or group college access and retention services to over 1,200 students annually
- Provide college advisement to a small caseload of students
- Ensure high quality of all college workshops, instructional and individual case management services delivered to high school students, parents, and out-of-school youth through observation, coaching, co-facilitation, case conferencing and data tracking
- Oversee day to day operations of school based college access services and liaise regularly with school administrators, support staff and teachers to support on-site college advisors in coordinating services
- Ensure required hard copy and database documentation meets program and contract requirements
- Support Assistant Director in developing and executing a strategy for high school alumni engagement, identifying and recruiting program graduates attending college to participate in mentoring events for high school students, and connecting program graduates currently struggling in college to supportive institutional or community-based programs
- Support Assistant Director in initiating and tracking program expenditures
- Participate in relevant departmental, agency, and external meetings, trainings, case conferences, workshops and events.
- Handle any appropriate additional responsibilities and functions as assigned by Assistant Director
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Human Services or related field required. Master’s preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in college access or success required.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
- Deep knowledge of college application and financial aid procedures and best practices in college readiness, including familiarity with the CUNY and SUNY systems
- Demonstrated ability to develop new partnerships and/or enhance existing partnerships
- “Whatever It Takes” attitude to get young people to succeed in high school and college
- Knowledgeable of and able to apply positive youth development principles to working with young people
- Commitment to social, economic and racial justice and sensitivity to the needs of diverse low-income adolescents of color, many from vulnerable populations (foster-care, homeless, undocumented, court-involved)
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills; strong computer skills required
- Superior organizational and project management skills
- Creativity and initiative
- Personal accountability for results and ability to inspire same in a team
- Proficiency in Spanish, French or Mandarin strongly preferred
Hours: Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week, with a minimum of one late night per week.

The goal of The University Settlement and Door’s Career and Education Services Department is to support young in completing secondary education and successfully transitioning into post-secondary education and employment. Programs within the Career and Education Services Department (CareerED) are designed to help young people, who are in school and out-of-school and out-of work, to assess, set, and obtain their educational and career goals. CareerED services specifically allow a young person to craft a personalized life plan defining the steps he/she will take to achieve those goals while developing the necessary skills for future life success and independence.
