The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter is one of the largest and most active chapters in The ALS Association's nationwide network of 32 chapters. The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter is a leader in the fight to cure and treat ALS by funding global, cutting-edge research and providing vital support services to people with Lou Gehrig’s disease and their families in the Greater New York metropolitan area. 


Reporting to the Assistive Technology Specialist, the Equipment Loan Coordinator serves as the initial contact for all medical equipment inquiries. The Coordinator handles the logistics of distribution of Durable Medical Equipment & Assistive Technology through the Chapter's Equipment Loan Program. There are currently four facilities where donated equipment is stored. This is a full-time position located in the Chapter's Manhattan office, with travel required, as necessary, throughout the territory we serve.


Job Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests for information regarding durable medical equipment and assistive technology.
  • Respond to offers of equipment donations.
  • Works with medical professionals to determine appropriate equipment to be loaned to patients.
  • Coordinate logistics for pick-up and delivery of equipment through each of the Chapter's four loan storage facilities.
  • Periodic visits to the loan facilities to review equipment and inventory.
  • Follow-up with patients and families to determine current or future needs.
  • Home Visits to help families set up equipment, and to discuss possibilities for home accessibility.
  • Maintain and update equipment and patient database.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health related field.
  • Experience working with and knowledge of individuals with disabilities and/or the elderly.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Good listening and communication skills – (in-person, phone, e-mail).
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to work independently , as well as collaboratively.
  • Ability to follow-up to complete projects.
