Scholarship Coordinator

The Fish Family Foundation and the Ed and Barbara Shapiro Foundation have established a scholarship program for immigrant students who have no access to federal assistance or loans. Scholarships are given to students with DACA and TPS status, and to those that are undocumented. These scholarships fund students to attend Southern New Hampshire University through the Duet Program (Duet.org).

Scholarships have already been awarded to the first class of recipients, and now we are growing the program to serve 25 per class (a total of 100 students). The Coordinator will be the key point person for each of these students throughout their time at Duet.

As the program grows, we expect the Program Coordinator to take the lead in its development. We seek someone with creative ideas to enrich the students’ time in the program in a variety of ways.

Location:

Greater Boston

Core Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Foundation’s Director of Strategic Initiatives, we are looking for a full-time Coordinator who can work with incoming students; support them as they submit applications; build trust as they enter and continue the program; connect them to needed resources in the community; present them with opportunities for speakers, learning, and development; and collaborate with Duet regularly to address concerns. Our goal is also to transition high achieving students to traditional 4 year colleges with scholarships.

This position will have opportunity for growth, as you develop and expand the program from its very early stages.

Qualifications and Skills:

The Fish Family Foundation is looking for someone thoughtful, creative, accessible, with a desire to see the undocumented population thrive and lead in Massachusetts. You must be able to work independently. We are looking for someone with strong emotional intelligence, especially empathy.

The Coordinator should have some experience working in the Boston area and be aware of wrap-around resources in the community (health, mental health, housing, legal, etc.). Preference will be given to someone who speaks a second language.

We are happy to be flexible for the right person:

Part-time or full-time, office or WFH. Please get in touch if you are eager to hear more.
