With offices in Washington, DC and Chicago, IL and remote staff across the  the country, we support and advance state-based and national fights for progressive policies on the environment, decarceration, health care, economic security, housing, education, and more. Our member organizations, nearly 40 organizations across 28 states, improve lives by running  local- and state-level issue and electoral campaigns, leading statewide tables, and collectively come together to change national policy and politics.

 

People’s Action/ Institute has a track record of leadership in coordinating field mobilization and advocacy in advancing an array of issues at the local, state, and federal levels. Qur member organization have won important victories at the national, state, and local levels, including:  health insurance for millions and the reversal of health care laws that discriminate based on citizenship, stopping Wall Street banks from selling predatory payday loans to their customers, and historic legislation like the Community Reinvestment Act to victory and the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The Opportunity

This is the dream job of someone who wants to be on the frontline of the opposition to Trump and the Right, in an organization deeply committed to building power at scale through organized people, money and ideas.


Overview of the Position

The primary function of the Field Manager is to build, improve and manage systems (digital databases, information sharing platforms, cross-department workflows, SMS alerts) that support  the structure, needs, and ongoing projects of the organization. In doing so, the Field Manager will improve transparency and communication between member organizations and the national, and allow us to understand capacity and reach through metrics and data visualizations. 

What you will do:

  • Information Tracking and Systems Management
  • Work with our Director of Technology to drive implementation of Salesforce as our main CRM for tracking information from our member organizations. 
  • This position would be the first line support staff for our field engagement in Salesforce
  • Build and maintain a system to track national staff work with member organizations. 
  • Maintain, track and update key information, including but not limited to:
  • List of current member organizations
  • Affiliation prospects 
  • Tracking regrants to our member organizations
  • Who has/hasn’t paid dues
  • What member organizations are engaging with which campaigns, projects, committees
  • Contact information for member organizations and staff
  • Support Strong, Healthy, Powerful Coordination across the Network
  • Facilitate co-creation of new processes and infrastructures to meet the needs of the  network and its member organizations
  • Work with the Director of Power Building to assess the strength of our network so we can make smart decisions regarding capacity support for member organizations
  • Stay up to speed on our national programs and campaigns so that our member organizations are plugged into appropriate campaigns, projects, events, and opportunities. 
  • Drive member organization turn out for events
  • Syncing up our Field Work with our National Priorities
  • Ensure member organizations have advanced knowledge of and all necessary information about national events, trainings, campaign events , and network operating procedures
  • Support Director of Power Building in aligning appropriate field leads with member organizations
  • Drive the network into action at critical rapid response moments
  • Support the development team to track and collect member organizations plans as they relate to large fundraising efforts 
  • Field Coordination and Communication
  • Manage the field program  through regular check-ins, agreement setting, and accountability checks with program staff to ensure all communications are flowing fully between member organizations and national staff
  • Work with communications and development teams to assist in collecting stories  from the field for reports and communications.  
  • Other Duties as Assigned

The ideal Field Manager should have the following experience and qualifications:

 

  • Strong commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice and their intersections, both inside and outside the organization.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a project management, program management, or high level administrative role. 
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working with community, labor and/ or electoral organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks & responsibilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 6-12 times per year.
  • Willingness to put in the hours to get the job done, including some nights and weekends.
  • Experience with CRMs generally,  experience with Salesforce prefered
  • Ability to work with diverse people and organizations

Compensation and Benefits:

Status: Full-time, Regular, Exempt, benefits eligible

Salary Range: $55,000-65,000

Location: Based in our Chicago, IL office. Washington, D.C. or remote locations may be considered.  

Reports to: Director of Power Building

Benefits include: Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Medical and Dependent Care Flex Spending Account, 403(b) plan, Long-Term Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, 9 paid holidays plus the last two weeks of the year that include Christmas Eve/Christmas Day as well as, New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day, and you accrue two weeks of vacation your first year or employment.
