Opéra Louisiane seeks an Associate Director to advance the exciting and challenging work of promoting and producing professional opera in Baton Rouge, LA. Full-time position. Arts Administration experience a plus, knowledge of opera preferred.
Opéra Louisiane is a professional opera company producing four major opera productions each season as well as a host of outreach events and two major fundraisers. Opéra Louisiane was founded in 2007 and has built a reputation for high quality productions that entertain the traditional opera goer while enticing newcomers to experience opera. Baton Rouge is the capital of Louisiana and has a thriving arts scene that celebrates the well-known culture of Louisiana, while highlighting the unique talent of the people of Baton Rouge.
The work of the Associate Director is essential to the success of Opéra Louisiane and requires someone with excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once. The Associate Director works alongside General Director Leanne Clement and Artistic Director Michael Borowitz and directs the work of the Marketing Assistant.
The Associate Director executes multiple roles including business manager, education liaison, box office manager, company manager, grant writer, and donor relations manager. As business manager, the Associate Director is responsible for bookkeeping, preparing monthly financial statements, administration of accounts payable and receivable and management of all payroll and taxes. As Box Office Manager, the Associate Director processes all ticket requests including payment, printing, and mailing, all managed through Geotix. As education liaison, the Associate Director works with the Education Committee to invite, register and educate 3,000 students each year for the Young People’s Opera Program. In addition, the Associate Director plays a crucial role at these performances, maintaining order and directing 30 volunteers in assisting with student arrival and departure. As manager of donor relations, the Associate Director maintains communications with donors and the board including membership reminders, thank you letters, mailing of the annual appeal, and tax receipts. Additional duties include event and outreach set up, audition coordination, rehearsal scheduling and grant writing.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or 4 years relevant experience required. Excellent writing skills. Familiarity with Excel, Word and Publisher. Knowledge of Quickbooks a plus.
Pay range is $32,000 - $36,000, dependent upon experience and education. Benefits include two weeks paid vacation, flexible time off for performing or professional development, partial health insurance reimbursement and paid holidays.
