Summary 

The Program Assistant supports programming and events for the AHA Center for Education and The Humanist Society endorsement program. The Program Assistant reports to the Education Director. This is a full-time position with regular business hours. The starting salary for this position is $36K. The AHA offers good benefits, including full health insurance, a generous leave program, and a 403(b) retirement savings plan that includes a partial match.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The following list of duties is not exhaustive. AHA may also outline additional responsibilities that are not included in this job description.

  • Coordinate the Humanist Society endorsement program, including (but not limited to):
  • Process endorsement applications and interview applicants including following up with celebrant payments, and preparing and mailing endorsements and certificates
  • Respond to inquiries from endorsees, applicants, and the general public
  • Maintain payment, endorsement, and relationship records for all endorsees
  • Identify areas for program improvement, growth, and recruitment
  • Support the needs of the Humanist Society Board of Directors
  • Provide support for quarterly teleconferences and online trainings
  • Provide site support for any HS in-person board meetings
  • Support AHA Center for Education programming, including (but not limited to):
  • On-site event development and planning, including; reserving meeting space, assisting with event promotions, ordering catering, and staffing events
  • Support development and promotion of educational programs and materials
  • Provide mail support for sending resources to local groups and tabling supplies to regional conferences
  • Provide additional supportive services
  • Drop off mail daily in a postal box or the post office
  • Prepare and send care packages for active military as needed
  • Order supplies
  • Other needs as assigned

Requirements:

  • Strong verbal, written, listening and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of humanism or interest to learn more
  • Organizing and editing abilities
  • Familiarity with Google Suite and Zoom
  • Experience with form and database software preferred
  • Meticulous attention to detail while multi-tasking
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing work demands
  • Committed to creating and sustaining a positive work environment
