Summary

The Workforce Communications Specialist will create and maintain an online communication presence for the Employment and Training department. They will also assist with coordination, recruitment, enrollment, and management of veterans, employers, and community partners for Workforce projects and events.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain and create new content for the Employment and Training department’s social media accounts
  • Collaborates with various departments to gather data for the quarterly employer and Workforce Development newsletters, works on newsletters, and distributes newsletters in a timely manner
  • Conduct media-based outreach to career and resource fairs, community-based organizations, community colleges and universities, and military bases, etc. as needed to promote Workforce Development events and projects and maintain relationships for future projects and events
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing Workforce Development project and events with Workforce Development team
  • Screen candidates, conduct assessment/intake for new clients, and maintain contact with veterans that are enrolled for Workforce Development events/projects and support them with employment services (may include resume writing, mock interviews, one-on-one meetings)
  • Maintain compliance through audit of documentation via hard copy format and online software
  • Write engaging success stories, social media posts, presentations, and other communication as directed
  • Assist Employment & Training team directed projects as needed
  • Perform other related duties as required


Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, marketing, or related field

Experience

  • One (1) year experience collaborating with high priority stakeholders, event planning, and/or recruitment/community outreach
  • Translatable military experience and skills may be alternatively substituted

Qualifications

  • Goal-oriented and flexible
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and exercises good judgment
  • Ability to work independently/self-manage and work as part of a diverse team
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines while maintaining a professional composure
  • Ability to perform case management/outreach functions at various sites throughout the Bay Area
  • Must have reliable transportation and clean DMV record
  • Ability to perform all essential functions as described within what would be considered reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and be comfortable working with an at-risk client population, including embracing the agency’s Cultural Humility Initiative

Skills

  • Must be a skilled relationship manager with excellent communication skills (both oral and written); preferred experience in public speaking/presentations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
