General Description

The Milbank Group Home is a licensed 24/7/365 program in the state. The Milbank Program Residential Manager will help facilitate residents’ adaptation to community living by providing guidance and hands-on assistance in accordance with a recovery based system of care.

The Milbank Residential Manager will receive clinical direction who will direct the program’s residential staff in the care of up to 8 adult clients who have a severe persistent mental illness (SPMI). The program requires at least 40-hours of rehabilitation hours each month for each client. The Milbank Residential Manager will receive direction regarding staffing needs, training staff and implementing programs for clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Builds strong working relationships and communications with the Milbank Group Home staff and, in doing so, will assist management with communicating, and implementing Pathways’ vision, mission, and overall direction

· Delegates and assign duties to Milbank Group Home staff and observes performance to ensure adherence to Pathways’ policies and established operating procedures

· Identifies the developmental needs of the group home staff and provide coaching, mentoring to improve their knowledge or skills as required

· Works with the Program Director to provide residential staff coverage for other Pathways’ programs

· Monitor and supervise adults in the group environment. Provide support services and crisis intervention as necessary. Stay up-to-date on all resident issues.

· Receives and resolves or assists management in resolving residents’ complaints and service recovery process

· Performs residential staff duties including, but not limited to, maintain accurate, timely, and complete records of residents. Document significant behavioral observations in Pathways’ cloud-based application, prepare written reports as necessary, report all unusual behaviors to social worker and program director. Document all resident contact and collateral contacts.

· Assigns, assists, and supervises residents in various duties including ADLs such as meal planning and preparation, housekeeping, laundry, including completion of assigned chores; provide hands-on assistance as needed.

· Provide instruction and guidance in the developing of ADL skills (e.g. personal hygiene, nutrition and wellness, social time, etc.).

· Facilitate groups to fulfill 40 hours per month per client of group work concentrating on intense ADL, social and psychological rehabilitation.

· Encourage resident’s attendance at planned activities (day program, jobs, etc.) and provide orientation for new residents.

· Conduct fire and functional drills, report repairs and replenish household supplies.

· Actively and constructively participates in house staff meetings, in-service trainings, case conferences and other meetings as required. Take minutes on assigned dates.

· Train new residential staff on responsibilities as needed.

  • Responsible for reviewing employee performance and conducts personnel actions such as disciplinary actions with the Program Director.

· Ensure compliance with all federal, state and municipal regulation pertaining to program operation.

· Oversee food and supply inventories.

· Maintains and respects confidentiality of patient/physician/personnel information.

· Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Treats patients and families with respect and dignity.

· Ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

· Basic understanding of empathy for the needs of individuals with mental illness. Some knowledge of basic principles of human development and psychopathology.

· Ability to enforce Pathways rules in a professional manner, while avoiding conflicts or favoritism among residents, and maintaining respectful boundaries

· Courteous and professional individual with the ability to deal with individuals with varying needs and challenges.

· When dealing with resident clients, first responders, and other Pathways staff, must maintain a pleasant and friendly demeanor.

· Strong problem-solver who enjoys multi-tasking.

· Ability and interest in teaching and prompting the development of basic independent living skills.

· Some knowledge of basic first aid, crisis intervention, and emergency action principles.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

· Computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Word, internet, cloud-based applications and tablet based applications.

Qualifications and Requirements:

· BA/BS required in a clinical field such as social work or in human services with minimum of two-years-experience in a related field required. Consideration given to those who are a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or are a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Experience in residential programs a plus.

· Understanding of mental health and addiction issues.

· Ability to flourish in an environment where the total emphasis is on delivering optimum client care.

· Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in written form.

· Ability to travel between floors of the buildings, in a quick safe manner, as necessary

· Ability to travel between agency buildings as necessary
