Description

Our Closet – Powered by JFCS (Jewish Family and Children's Service of Greater Philadelphia) operates community-based pop-up shops throughout the city, where we offer community members who are struggling to make ends meet the opportunity to receive free, quality clothing in a dignified, and welcoming space. To support this endeavor the program is in need of a part-time (10 hours per week, divided over two or three days) associate to work out of our warehouse located in the Marple Crossroads shopping center in Springfield, PA. The warehouse associate organizes warehouse space and clothing donations while preparing clothing inventory for pop-up shops at Our Closet warehouse. Assist volunteer sorting groups who come to warehouse to sort clothing. Interface with Our Closet volunteers and supporters in a warm, welcoming and positive manner both in person and while making and returning any phone calls on Our Closet’s behalf.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·        Select, fold, put together and bag clothing inventory for each Our Closet pop-up shop and place bags in designated area for Our Closet driver to pick up

·        Sort through incoming clothing donations, checking each clothing item for quality assurance and placing it in its proper place (according to item, gender, size and season)

·        Work independently at warehouse, being responsible for your own key and keeping warehouse safe and secure

·        Lead or assist with volunteer clothing sorting events

·        Make and return phone calls to Our Closet constituents such as volunteers, donors and shoppers, answering questions and possibly referring them to proper person for assistance

·        Handle all materials properly to ensure integrity of the items

·        Professionally and positively interact with volunteers and supporters while representing the Agency

·        Complete all required paperwork and maintain documents as needed

·        Report any hazards or losses immediately to Program Manager

·        Keep warehouse space neat and organized

Requirements

·        Have at least 2 years of successful work experience

·        High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

·        Must pass a substance test for drugs and alcohol use and ongoing testing as required

·        Must have clean criminal, child abuse and FBI records

·        Must be physically able to lift and transport clothing bags to designated location in warehouse

·        Must be a team player with a great attitude and commitment to helping vulnerable Philadelphians
