ABOUT GENERATION

Generation is a global program dedicated to closing the skills gap for young adults, which leaves 75 million unemployed and three times as many underemployed around the world. Generation is an independent non-profit organization launched by McKinsey & Co. in 2014, and we work with multiple partners to recruit candidates, design, and deliver a 4-12 week "boot-camp" training program focused on technical, behavioral, and foundational skills, and to track the return on investment for both employers and young people.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Program Associate will support an exciting partnership between the Rockefeller Foundation and Generation to grow the adoption of demand-side strategies that provide greater opportunities to poor or vulnerable youth and other marginalized populations to access low-income entry-level employment (also known as “Impact Hiring”). Through this partnership, the Impact Hiring team will work closely with employers to 1) conduct a diagnostic to identify pain points and 2) design and implement a suite of interventions to improve employer and employee outcomes and specifically target the pain points identified in the diagnostic. The Program Associate will report directly to the Impact Hiring Project Manager and be responsible for helping to secure employer partnerships and funding through business development efforts.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive successful launch of employer pilots by:
  • Working with the Project Manager to strategically identify employer partnerships and pitching the Generation / Rockefeller Foundation partnership
  • Cultivating long term relationships with program partners throughout the U.S., including but not limited to employers, funders and general supports
  • Working with Project Manager and employers to determine intervention design and cost of implementation
  • Working with employer to secure funding to cover cost of implementation
  • Where appropriate, identifying and securing additional funding sources
  • Manage ongoing employer pilots by:
  • Identifying and training employer partners to deliver implementation of intervention(s), including best practice
  • Conducting observations to check on implementation progress
  • Developing a data tracking system to assess progress
  • Refine intervention design with employer partner as necessary
  • Communicate findings from diagnostic and pilot(s) by:
  • Conducting various analyses on employer data set
  • Creating reports with high-quality data visualization for internal and external distribution
  • Reporting pilot outcomes to Generation leadership, grantors, implementation partners and other key stakeholders
  • Attending convenings with the Project Manager to inform stakeholders about program outcomes and success metrics
  • Translating data into concrete plans and recommendations to improve program performance

Specific requirements include, but not limited to:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize, analyze, and draw insights from significant amounts of information

  • Resides in the U.S. with the ability to travel domestically up to 2-3 days per week as needed

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must have bachelor’s degree or higher
  • At least 2 years of professional experience with management consulting preferred
