Position Summary 


The Children’s Cardiomyopathy Foundation (CCF), a national nonprofit organization based in northern New Jersey, seeks a motivated, assertive, and self-directed individual to assist in the coordination of its family support activities. Reporting to the Director of Outreach & Family Support, the Family Support Manager will focus on: 1) managing the member registration process and family database, 2) managing a wide range of family support resources, including discussion forums, online chats, webinars, family matching, hospital care bags, and Heart Buddy programs, 3) overseeing CCF’s Family Assistance Program, and 4) representing CCF at sponsored family conferences and assisting with CCF-hosted family/member meetings. 


The position is 30 hours per week with duties performed primarily from the manager’s home with one or two monthly meetings in Tenafly, NJ. The manager is also expected to attend and represent CCF at family meetings and conferences in the tri-state area and nationally when needed (2-3 trips per year on average).

Key Responsibilities


The Family Support Manager will work in collaboration with the Medical Outreach Manager and report to the Director of Outreach and Family Support in the following areas:


Member Support: Oversee the member registration process, analyze and maintain family registration database; develop strategies to increase member registrations; respond to patient/family requests for medical information, parent matching, center referrals, and support resources; moderate CCF’s online community and Facebook groups, issue monthly announcements to members, including summaries of the latest medical research. 


Support Resources: Manage family/patient support programs including scheduling and hosting online chats and webinars and facilitating the heart buddy program and family matching. Also, develop the parent ambassador program; oversee the hospital care bag program, and moderate Facebook groups and CCF’s private online community, CCF Connect. 


Family Assistance Program: Promote the program to social workers and pediatric cardiologists, evaluate applications, and recommend families to assist. Also, administer the program and handle all payments to vendors and awarded families.


Education: Work with the Director of Outreach and Family Support in developing educational materials, identifying funding options, and sharing relevant resources with parents, patients, and other CCF members.  Also represent CCF at sponsored medical conference and assist in the planning of a CCF family conference.



Job Requirements


·      30 hours/week with 90% of the job performed during normal business hours (9am-5pm)

·      A full home office set up, including dedicated business phone line (paid for by CCF), printer, computer with MS Office software, and internet access

·      CCF should be the primary employer

·      Located within 60 minutes driving distance to Tenafly, NJ and have the ability to attend staff meetings one to two times per month

·      Have the ability to work at CCF’s annual fundraising activities (Night for a Cure-February, Golf for a Cure-July/August, Walk for a Cure-September) that take place in the NYC/NJ Metro Area

·      Have the ability to travel to conferences and events on average 2-3 times per year in addition to monthly staff meetings


Job Qualifications


·      BA degree in social work, sociology, nursing, or related degree 

·      5-7 years of work experience, preferably in a relevant discipline (nursing, social work, child life), or a similar position with a non-profit 

·      Basic understanding of cardiac disease and medical terminology would be an asset

·      Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media platforms (Facebook; Twitter)

·      Familiarity with Mail Chimp and Constant Contact mail management programs preferred

·      Strong database management skills required – organizing data and performing analysis/reports

·      Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal/writing)

·      Demonstrated skills for project management and implementation

·      Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills

·      Ability to handle multiple projects and work independently and efficiently under deadlines

 

Compensation


$35,000-$38,000 annually for 30 hours/week.
