Description

Would you like to be part of a multinational educational community that strives for excellence and a profound transformation of the individual via innovative educational practices? We believe transformation and growth is multiplied when we educate young people to become leaders who serve others and inspire them towards a common goal.

Would you enjoy living minutes away from some of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico? Harkness Institute is a unique bilingual and bicultural high school in Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit, Mexico that employs discussion-based instruction, rather than the traditional method of teacher lecture. This allows students to develop strong critical thinking skills, become more confident and more effective communicators, and it also strengthens their socio-emotional skills.

Our mission is to offer growth opportunities to the future leaders of Mexico and the world, who have a commitment to their country and community, helping them reach their potential to think and act creatively and critically and generate positive change.

Applicants for a teaching position at Harkness must have at least a Bachelor's degree, at least 2 years of teaching experience, strong recommendation letters, and the desire to work with bright and motivated high school students for a minimum of 2 years. Enthusiasm for the subject matter is a must. At Harkness, students learn mostly through discussions, so excellent communication skills are necessary. The maximum class size is 14 students.

We value educators with diverse backgrounds and life experiences who understand the importance of academic rigor and are committed to helping students grow, educators who are lifelong learners themselves.

Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to: create lesson plans, teach up to 26 hours/week, grade papers/exams, participate in school meetings and events. The position also involves meeting with students who are struggling with keeping up with the workload (tutor/counselor) and coordinating student activities related with the subjects taught.
