Do you think of yourself as an innovator? We’re looking for someone who wants to create data-driven stories that can help shape a better world for all people. Do you like to take ownership of how data is developed and visualized to ensure information is useful. Do you enjoy exploring raw data and working with statisticians to report the meaningful truth about how to solve the problems facing society? Are you a good collaborator who can see the big picture clearly, and write about it with simplicity and precision? We’re looking for a data journalist who will be a central driver of the story we tell, can apply their editorial skills to push forward our thinking and integrate results from a transdisciplinary group of social scientists.
We’re looking for a new team member, an equal among us who enjoys using statistical tools to identify significant data trends, and loves to turn a good question into useful stories that can improve how the organizations we work with achieve their goals.
Required technical skills include “a good understanding of statistics and statistical analysis; a strong grasp of how to clean, parse and query data; and working knowledge of: spreadsheet software, R; demonstrable experience creating data visualizations, using either tools or scripts, and experience of gathering information from public data. Experience with GIS or other mapping software is not required but is helpful.

New Knowledge Organization Ltd. empowers change-makers with interdisciplinary social science research. As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, we pursue this work to build a society where all people can live to their greatest potential in harmony with a thriving biosphere. Through independent research, evaluation, strategic planning, and systems design, we explore how people learn about and are motivated to solve society’s grand challenges. With over 30 researchers from a range of disciplines, we explore paths to individual and community wellness, how to support a healthy biosphere, and how media and cultural organizations contribute to a just society. Consistent with the principles of a strong democracy, we promote public dialogue and action through collaboration, transparency in our process, and open access to the results of our work.

· Have completed a journalism degree or equivalent degree in a related field;
· Have experience analyzing, managing, or contributing to research databases;
· Have the ability to work in our New York City office.
