The MAVEN Project (Medical Alumni Volunteer Expert Network):

The MAVEN Project provides access and reduced wait times for needed care in underserved communities through our physician volunteers (both specialists and primary care physicians) who provide clinical consultation, education and mentoring to healthcare organizations in need. The MAVEN Project delivers value by matching its national corps of engaged physician volunteers with organizations serving vulnerable and underserved populations. The MAVEN project makes it easy, fun and meaningful for physicians to volunteer time and expertise.


Position Description: The MAVEN Project is seeking an experienced Project Associate to join our collaborative, dynamic team based in Watertown, MA. Reporting to the CEO, the Project Associate is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the office and is an active member of the operations team, participating and leading initiatives. The Project Associate joins an engaged and committed team dedicated to closing the gaps on access to care for vulnerable populations.



Day-to-day operations of managing the office(30-40% of role), including:

  • Performing administrative duties for executive management including managing calendars, planning and scheduling meetings
  • Preparing and editing correspondence, presentations and reports
  • Managing agenda for All Staff Meeting
  • Taking the lead on finding innovative ways to engage staff across the country
  • Making travel and event arrangements
  • Onboarding new staff members
  • Interfacing with and providing support for other staff as needed
  • Organizing and maintaining files, databases and records


Project Management (60-70% of role)::

  • Managing the credentialing process for new physician volunteers; this includes ensuring all documentation is up to date and volunteers are communicated with in an effective and appreciative manner
  • Leading other projects as they relate to internal (MAVEN Project) and external (clinic operations), as requested
  • Identifying new opportunities to design programs to achieve outcomes
  • Participate in execution of programs as relevant
  • Identifying opportunities to improve existing systems
  • Designing solutions
  • Participate in execution of new systems
  • Assisting with additional special projects as needed including development initiatives and national conference preparation


  • B.A./B.S.
  • 3+ years experience in an office environment
  • Interest in healthcare and closing the gaps to access to care
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sensitivity to confidential matters
  • Strong computer skills
  • Flexibility to work on various projects and initiatives at once
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and resource-constrained environment
  • Independent and able to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management and staff as well as outside parties
