Recovery Café was founded on the truth that every human being is precious and beloved regardless of past trauma, mental and emotional anguish, addictive behaviors, or mistakes made. We provide a beautiful, safe, warm, drug and alcohol free space and loving community to anchor people in the sustained recovery needed to gain and maintain access to housing, social and health services, healthy relationships, education, and employment. Our program is designed to help people maintain recovery, reduce relapse and fulfill their potential.


The Recovery Café Network (RCN) is committed to nurturing groups seeking to start recovery communities based on the Recovery Café model. Through a cohort learning model, groups and organizations are provided mentorship, materials, expertise, and facilitated learning experiences to create a recovery community in their area. The Network is committed to helping those who join the Network be successful in starting their program, building recovery capital in their communities, and offering effective long-term recovery support for years to come.


POSITION DESCRIPTION 

The Emerging Member Manager will be responsible for the training, mentorship, and ongoing support of the RCN Emerging Member organizations (implementing organizations). Working closely with the RCN team, including Recovery Café’s Founding Director and Program Director, this position will plan and execute RCN’s strategies for helping Emerging Member organizations implement the Recovery Café model. This position will be a resource in helping Emerging Member organizations understand the nuances of the Recovery Café model and provide support as needed and is practical. This role will also support the onboarding and implementation of AGENCY database for Emerging Member organizations. 


Emerging Member Learning Cohort Experience  

●      Reviews Emerging Member organizations applications to join learning cohort alongside RCN team to assess strengths and growth areas for each Emerging Member organization  

●      Onboard Emerging Member organizations to the online learning platform using Salesforce database 

●      Assists with onboarding and training of Emerging Member organizations in the use of the AGENCY database in daily operations and fulfillment of RCN data reporting requirements. 

●      Coordinates the technical assistance (TA) for the RCN Emerging Member Cohort’s activities including each cohort’s launch (initial two day training), monthly video calls, site visits, and other support as necessary

●      Implements training curriculum with the guidance of the Recovery Café Program Director 

●      Acts as the point of contact between RCN and Emerging Member organizations, with support from RCN staff including Recovery Café Founding Director, including emails and phone calls, using a nurturing collaborative approach 

●      Supports RCN knowledge management and documentation efforts 

●      Leads efforts to develop other training as needed in collaboration with the RCN team and/or consultants, Full Member organizations (organizations that have completed their Emerging Member cohort learning experience), or other partners

●      Assists in the preparation, review, and dissemination of RCN reports, presentations, and other deliverables as applicable 


Emerging Member Implementation of AGENCY Database

●      Supports Emerging Member organizations with implementation of the AGENCY database, which Member organizations use to store and utilize data about their Members and programs

●      Assists Emerging Member organizations with integrating data collection and use of AGENCY into their daily program operations, and reinforces how AGENCY facilitates successful implementation of the Recovery Café model

●      In collaboration with the Monitoring & Evaluation Manager, supports training for Emerging Member organizations on using AGENCY and answers questions about using AGENCY. Previous AGENCY experience is not required; training will be provided.


Other Responsibilities 

●      Stays up to date on current Recovery Café Seattle operations including facilitating a Recovery Circle and attending related meetings, and shadow RC Seattle operations as needed/available 

●      Participates in RCN training events including RCN Rendezvous conference and all Network calls

●      Provides input at RCN grant making meetings as needed 

●      Other duties as assigned

DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Qualified candidates must have at least 3-5 years of work experience in social services. Experience in a substance use disorder recovery non-profit is preferred. This position requires an understanding of substance use disorder and other mental health challenges, and an openness to learning new skills. In addition, candidates must have the ability and willingness to travel to represent RCN and visit Recovery Cafes part of the Network across North America (estimated travel 5%).


This candidate will be expected to work on site at RCN’s world headquarters located at Recovery Café’s SODO site, 4202 6th Ave S., when the organization determines it is safe to do so due to COVID. At times the candidate may be required to fulfill on-site responsibilities at the SLU location, 2022 Boren Ave. This is not a job that can be done remotely on an ongoing basis. 


DESIRED ATTRIBUTES INCLUDE

●      Three to five years of work experience in social services 

●      A strong desire to support individuals in recovery from the trauma of addiction, mental illness, and/or homelessness and the organizations that support them

●      Excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, flexibility, and the ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, energetic, entrepreneurial environment 

●      Excellent written and verbal skills

●      Strong communication skills and ability to connect with people of various levels in an organization

●      Excellent facilitation skills

●      Ability to work independently and with others 

●      Comfortable using email, phone, video conferencing, and other such methods to collaborate with others across geographies and time zones

●      Excellent team player

●      Willingness and ability to accommodate a flexible schedule

●      Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

●      Strong interest in working with diverse populations

●      Experience with individuals in recovery from addiction and other mental health challenges a plus

●      Willingness and ability to travel to represent RCN and visit Recovery Cafés part of the Network
