When you think about elections, you might think about popular candidates, “I voted” stickers, and all sorts of paperwork and deadlines. But behind the scenes are thousands of election administrators in state and local governments who are working hard to make sure ballots are counted and voices are heard.

To serve every community and make democracy work, election administrators need practical, research-based approaches that can improve their operations. These include things like voter registration, resource allocation, and language access.

As the CTCL Projects Associate, you will learn about the complex challenges that voters face and help election administrators address those challenges. You’ll work with the Government Services team and report to the Senior Project Manager.

  • Train: Deliver election best practices in webinars, conferences, and small-group training sessions
  • Publish website content: Format and publish content about election best practices and tools on CTCL Wordpress sites (ElectionTools.org & ModernReg.org)

Qualifications

While no candidate will possess every quality, the successful candidate will possess many of the following qualifications and personal attributes. Even if you aren’t sure if you’re qualified but are excited about the position, we encourage you to apply!

You have:

  • An understanding of CTCL’s mission
  • A proven track record of success
  • Experience using or willingness to learn

About the Center for Tech and Civic Life

The Center for Tech and Civic Life is a nonprofit that connects Americans with the information they need to become and remain civically engaged, and ensures that our elections are more professional, inclusive, and secure. We do this by providing information the public needs to develop lifelong civic habits and by connecting election officials with tools and training so that they can best serve their communities.

To date, we’ve published civic datasets that answer the questions “What’s on my ballot?” and “Who represents me?” which have been accessed over 200 million times. And we’ve trained thousands of election officials, serving over 80 million voters, on topics like election website design and cybersecurity best practices.

The Center for Tech and Civic Life is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We encourage people of all races, colors, religions, national origins, sexual orientations, genders, sexes, ages, abilities, branches of military service, and political party affiliations to apply.
