The Center for Climate Protection seeks an upbeat, strategic, accomplished, and well-networked individual with a sense of humor to work fulltime organizing community support for the Center for Climate Protection. The Community Organizer will help engage and expand a network of activists to advocate for climate policy solutions in California.

Community Organizer’s Role

• Design and implement campaign strategies that deliver results

• Take initiative and responsibility

• Build support for strategic policy objectives from volunteers, policymakers, and allied organizations

• Cultivate relationships

• Coordinate public events and rallies

• Facilitate meetings and trainings

• Bonus: Research and develop potential new funding sources

Skills and Qualities

The job requires a person who:

  • Has a proven track record of successful community organizing - experience in   climate and with organizing legislative campaigns a big plus Is very well organized, a strong team player, and builds relationships naturally
  • Is charismatic and inspiring with superior communication skills, especially public speaking
  • Uses social media effectively to communicate and market projects to targeted audiences
  • Skilled in using tools needed for work such as a CRM system, Facebook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Minimum Qualifications

  • Track record of successful organizing
  • Minimum five years’ relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Able and willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • Available and willing to travel
  • Use of a car necessary for fulfilling job responsibilities
  • Able to engage in a range of physical activity, including standing or sitting at a desk or computer and
  • walking (sometimes on uneven surfaces) for extended periods of time. Able to climb a flight of stairs
  • and lift/carry up to 30 pounds
  • Excellent references
