Project Happiness, a rapidly-growing non-profit educational organization is reaching a community of 2.5 million, and now stands poised to accelerate its progress over the coming five years. To continue to support this amazing work, Project Happiness is seeking a talented and passionate Development Specialist who is ready to expand both the mission, and reach of the non profit during this rapid growth period. ·      Must be able to think strategically, and practically, to implement results-oriented development plans that include traditional and innovative strategies.

·      Be a self-starter and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls; effectively lead the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate prospects, and donors.

·      Establish strong relationships and lines of communication with programming staff, working together to create accurate and informative messaging, increased donor awareness of key initiatives and engaging donor cultivation events

·      Manage a comprehensive corporate fundraising program to engage corporations/organizations in sponsorships, grants, in-kind gifts, and partnership dollars.

·      Develop effective strategies to position Project Happiness for short and long-term revenue growth including comprehensive solicitations across multiple funding channels (cause-marketing, workplace giving/employee engagement, sponsorship, grants, planned, and individual giving, major-gifts, in-kind).

·      Create and execute fundraising and stewardship strategies for a portfolio of at least 50 individual and family foundation donors for annual and multi-year gifts of +$25,000

·      Prepare regular reports on progress, recommend corrective actions and pivot when necessary.

·      Develop / execute comprehensive communication plan to promote Project Happiness nationally and maximize public awareness.

·      Cultivate a diverse mix of revenue, including corporate partnerships, foundation support, and individual contributions.

·      Act as primary grant writer for Project Happiness.

·      Serve as principal relationship manager for corporations and foundations.



·      Bachelor’s degree required; relevant graduate degree preferred.

·      Professional experience in development, marketing, corporate sales, corporate social responsibility experience preferred; for-profit experience is welcomed

·      Minimum of 3-4 years of fundraising and development experience required, including at least 1 year in nonprofit fundraising.

·      Demonstrated success in developing donor or client relationships, new partnerships or business development resulting in significant support for an organization.

·      Experience fundraising across multiple channels (cause related marketing, workplace giving/ employee engagement, sponsorships, grants, in-kind donations)

·      Willingness to ask for and close major gifts of $25,000+ and proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects.

·      Demonstrated experience crafting effective pitch decks and other marketing materials; demonstrated superior writing and presentation skills, strong project management skills

·      Display a positive attitude; demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.

·      A commitment to building mission-aligned partners, who are excited to bring their diverse resources (ideas, networks, time, skills, and experience, in addition to financial resources) to bear in order to achieve our mission

·      Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required; Adobe Illustrator and database (e.g. SalesForce) experience preferred
