 ABOUT US:

We are the Uniters. We bring people together to solve problems. We identify the most pressing issues in our community and we bring together the people we think can solve them. United Way funds agencies that, working together, can address the nuances of complex problems like homelessness or the academic achievement gap. We create programs and initiatives to fill unmet needs. We deploy volunteers and socially responsible companies as the engines of change and the feet on the street, delivering hope to people in need. We raise funding through generous donors who understand that social change can’t happen without it.

 LAUNCH OVERVIEW:

Funded by the Department of Housing and Community Development of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United Way is leading Launch, a consortium of community-based partners, organized to create a coordinated system of providing outreach, connection and referrals, for education, training, and job placement to youth living in state-subsidized housing who are under- or unemployed and not enrolled in education and training. The network includes nonprofit partners in addition to United Way, the lead partner, all working together to integrate coaching, referral, and case management services. Collectively throughout Greater Boston, Launch will enroll 320 young adults in coaching and services that increase employment readiness and/or lead to employment by end of February 2023.

Key to the success of Launch is United Way’s youth voice strategy. United Way is hiring a Launch Ambassador to join the leadership of the project, participate in outreach activities, and support continuous improvement of the program to achieve better outcomes for Launch clients. The Remote Launch Ambassador will create and implement a self-directed research project about the experience of young adults in Greater Boston in education, training, or the workforce. The research project will include interviewing peers about their experiences to better inform the continuous improvement of the Launch model.

  • Develop an engagement plan that includes recommendations for frequency of posts and examples of content.
  • Host and facilitate a focus group or interviews with Launch clients and peers for feedback on our content and engagement strategies.
  • Create informed content for the Launch Facebook group, which is aimed at current, former, and prospective Launch clients and peers.
  • Work closely with the Launch Project Director and the Launch direct service team such as participating in the weekly team case conferencing calls and meeting bi-weekly with the Launch Project Director.

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant experience or interest in youth advocacy, social media marketing, research, or community organizing.
  • Interest and enthusiasm in creating support networks for young adults in Greater Boston.
  • Empathy, flexibility, and ability to contribute effectively as part of a professional team.
