ABOUT THE POSITION

MENTOR seeks a full-time Marketing & Communications Associate (Associate) to join the Marketing & Communications team at our national office. We’re looking for a highly organized, process- and detail-oriented communications professional who is just as comfortable writing copy as they are creating a spreadsheet. The Associate will help achieve MENTOR’s mission by providing tactical and organizational support to the Marketing & Communications team, including implementing strategy across all communications functions – media, email, social media, video, storytelling – and project management. The MENTOR team is highly collaborative, and this role will work with every member of the Marketing & Communications team, reporting to the Director of Digital Marketing.

This new position is a multi-functional tactician who will be an integral member of the team to expand our capacity and deliver on MENTOR’s goals. 

Responsibilities

Writing and Content Production

  • Draft content for MENTOR newsletters and announcements 
  • Implement and monitor social media strategy across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Execute MENTOR’s monthly editorial calendar, including collaboration with MENTOR’s 24 local Affiliates across the country
  • Create toolkits and other guides for partners to implement MENTOR’s marketing & communications campaigns 
  • Draft background documents and press releases for media relations efforts
  • Manage media outreach tracking and reporting

Project Management

  • Track and process all incoming marketing & communications requests
  • Prepare for meetings, schedule meetings, and manage meeting notes
  • Track team project budgets, spending, and forecasting
  • Serve as team lead on internal project management software (TeamWork) 

Requirements

  • 1-3 years experience in communications, marketing, or media; agency experience a plus
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Experience executing on organizational messaging and translating high-level messages
  • High level of organization and process orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to manage up and across, distilling feedback from various viewpoints
