This position will be involved in the tobacco control work of The Union, a program funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies to implement best practices of tobacco control policies at the global level. The Union is recruiting two (2) Program Officers to support its country partners develop and execute activities that expose how the tobacco industry is undermining public health. The Program Officers will be dedicated to The Union’s work with STOP, a global tobacco industry watchdog.
Funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, STOP is comprised of four constituent partners, each offering a unique set of capabilities to the initiative. The Union’s role within the partnership is to connect the watchdog’s activities to The Union’s ongoing tobacco control work and to ensure that STOP’s research and activities lead to on the ground action. The Program Officers will work closely with The Union’s STOP project lead and country-based staff to translate STOP resources and campaigns into country actions. They will help drive partner communication and engagement strategies, provide direct support to country staff and sub-grantees implementing advocacy strategies, and conduct investigations into industry activities.
The positions will be based out of The Union/Vital Strategies offices in New York City (valid work permit required). Remote based applicants will also be considered. These are one-year fixed term positions with the potential of extension, contingent upon program funds.
