Position Description:

The development assistant provides cross-departmental support on a wide range of development goals and activities. Toward that end, the assistant manages the donor database, processes donations and acknowledgments, provides event management support, and researches donors. The development assistant supports the executive director and chief development officer, as well as the governing and emeritus boards. The development assistant directly reports to the development manager.

Position Responsibilities:

The development assistant has varied responsibilities, often providing ad hoc support to a diverse array of projects. In particular, the development assistant will:

·        Manage donor records

·        Coordinate logistics for mailings and electronic outreach to donors

·        Donation processing: ensures the accurate and timely entry of donation information; prepares and sends acknowledgement letters

·        Manage board meeting and committee meeting logistics

·        Research current and prospective donors

·        Coordinate logistics related to donor events, including the annual Benefit

·        Plan and schedule appointments for the executive director 

Requirements and Qualifications

·        Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2008 (or later) software, especially Word and Excel

·        Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

·        Experience with databases a plus

·        Event planning experience a plus

·        Excellent professional judgment and ability to maintain confidential information

·        Ability to manage multiple assignments through clear and direct communication

·        Ability to work efficiently and problem-solve

·        Bachelor’s degree
