POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative, seasonal, and regular maintenance, hauling, yard work, and occasional janitorial duties for YouthCare's properties, and working within federal and local health and safety standards.

Non-management employees are represented by Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform regular maintenance, repairs, yard work, and hauling at YouthCare facilities. Including building and appliance repairs, general plumbing, and painting.
• Perform regular and emergency repairs as required in compliance with local and state health, fire and safety codes.
• Evaluate and determine need for repairs and maintenance in conjunction with and under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
• Arrange routine and unplanned vehicle repairs. As needed, coordinate or operate vehicles, including 15-passenger vans.
• Ability to comply with all applicable Company and Government (Federal, State & Local) directives, codes, rules, regulations and policies related to building operations and work safety in conjunction with and under the direction of the Facilities Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS –

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:          

• Demonstrated successful experience with basic building maintenance including repairs, plumbing, and painting.
• Ability to follow basic safety precautions and use personal protective equipment, including the ability to read, understand and follow safety directions.
• Ability to serve as a professional representative of YouthCare and to interact with staff, volunteers and the public on behalf of the organization.
• A valid Washington State Driver’s license and a driving record that meets or exceeds our insurance requirements; the ability and willingness to operate a 15-passenger van.
• Ability to p erform maintenance projects and tasks with minimal supervision consistent with Agency policy and direction from the Facilities Manager.
