Nationalities Service Center (NSC) serves more than 5,000 immigrants and refugees each year from over 110 countries. Program Summary:

NSC’s Development team works to raise general funds for NSC, through special events, appeals, grants, and more, and also handles agency communications. The team consists of two full-time staff, and works closely with the Executive Director and fundraising consultants. 


Position Summary:

The Development Associate will support the Director of Development and Communications in serving the development and communication needs of Nationalities Service Center (NSC), focusing on development operations and database management. In addition, the Associate will work with the Finance department to process and reconcile all contributions in the database and generate regular reports as needed.

The Development Associate will report to the Director of Development and Communications.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Process all contributions and pledges into the database and generate gift acknowledgements.
  • Maintain and reconcile with Finance to ensure gift entry, tracking, and reporting.
  • Maintain the database, including Moves Management tracking, and provide mailing lists for all physical and email communications for NSC.
  • Provide development reports for analysis as needed.
  • Assist with mailings, filing of grants, contracts, and other funding materials as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of development and communications collateral, including letterhead, brochures, postage, and solicitation materials.
  • Work closely with the Director of Development and Communications and Executive Director to plan and manage NSC’s fundraising events during the year.
  • Support Director of Development and Communications in other areas of development as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Appreciation for NSC’s goals and objectives.

  • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks by carefully setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and scheduling time efficiently.
  • Knowledge of electronic communication and advanced knowledge in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with a donor database is highly preferred.
  • Superior writing and verbal communication skills.
  • An interest in data required.

 

Experience, Education, and Licensure:

Minimum Experience: 1 to 2 years’ experience working in an office environment required; previous experience in a Development or Advancement Office preferred.

Minimum Education: BA/BS from an accredited university or college.

Compensation: The position is full-time with occasional evenings and weekends required. Salary is commensurate with experience. Generous benefits package offered.
