My Sister’s Place, Inc. (MSP) is a community based non-profit organization that provides comprehensive and holistic direct services to battered women and their children through intervention, prevention, educational programs, and services. MSP’s community outreach program raises awareness about domestic violence in English and Spanish with a focus on prevention and intervention through distributing literature, disseminating information at events, and innovative projects.
The Outreach Coordinator and Latino Liaison is responsible for conducting outreach and education to the District of Columbia’s Latino and non-Latino communities to increase awareness of domestic violence and improve access to services available to victims of domestic violence. This includes creating educational programs and activities, adapting and, if necessary, translating educational materials, conducting trainings, providing occasional translation support, community-building and networking, and working on special projects.
We're looking for an enthusiastic person who is familiar with the DV issue as well as DC social services, has excellent communication skills in English and Spanish, works effectively with diverse populations, can motivate individuals and groups, and can liaise between Spanish-speaking clients and other community organizations. A background in training is required, and some marketing/communications/design experience is a plus. You should also have a driver's license and be able to travel throughout the DC area.
