The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (Committee) is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization devoted to educating policymakers, the media and citizens about the fiscal challenges facing the country, as well as the possible solutions. The Committee is made up of some of the nation's leading budget experts including many of the past Chairmen and Directors of the Budget Committees, the Congressional Budget Office, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Government Accountability Office.

Position Summary: 

The Program Associate will contribute to the organization’s legislative, engagement, and policy efforts. This will include scheduling meetings, project research and writing, and assisting with office operations. An ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and project management skills, previous scheduling experience, and be a successful multi-tasker. There are many opportunities for professional growth in this position. The Program Associate will report to the Deputy Chief of Staff.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the senior leadership team by scheduling meetings
  • Conduct research for organization initiatives
  • Assist in event planning and logistical support
  • Assist the database administrator with database integrity and data entry
  • Exercise judgement to prioritize opportunities, prepare background materials and presentations and other project supporting materials
  • Manage up and across functional teams to achieve project goals and objectives
  • Special projects as needed

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience
  • Hill experience is a plus
