The DC Rape Crisis Center-DCRCC is the oldest, and the first rape crisis center in the country that is dedicated to creating a world free from violence. Beyond providing therapeutic support to survivors of sexual assault, the DC Rape Crisis Center consciously works towards building a consent based culture. At the heart of the DC Rape Crisis Center’s value is a deep understanding of intersectionality, equity and anti- oppression. The DC Rape Crisis Center believes that all forms of oppression are connected, and that sexual violence, and racial injustice are intrinsically linked. The DC Rape Crisis Center is looking to expand its team to include Sexual Assault Advocates.

REPORTING/AUTHORITY: The Sexual Assault Advocate is supervised by the Advocacy Coordinator.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The DC Rape Crisis Center seeks multiple Sexual Assault Advocates to participate in its 24/7 on call rotation advocacy program, to include hospital response, and community based response for survivors of sexual assault. This program is in accordance with the Sexual Assault Victims’ Rights Amendment Act of 2019, and the DC Sexual Assault Crisis Response Program. The Sexual Assault Advocates will directly be responsible for providing in person hospital based crisis/advocacy support, and or in person/ virtual community base crisis/advocacy support to survivors of sexual assault to include but not limited to information for survivor of sexual assault regarding their rights, as well as making referrals and connecting survivors of sexual assault to the Advocacy Services Coordinator within the DC Rape Crisis Center ,who will provide short term ongoing advocacy support as needed. Additionally, the Sexual Assault Advocates must be a critical and analytical thinker, work well with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams, communicate and write effectively, highly organized, flexible, ability to trouble shoot, and must be resourceful. The Sexual Assault Advocates will execute job duties, and responsibilities from an intersectional, and anti-oppression framework while upholding the values, and the mission of The DC Rape Crisis Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Availability for several 24-hour on-call shifts per month to support the 24/7 hospital based, and community based Sexual Assault Crisis Response Program.

· Ability to respond within one hour to all requests for advocacy services that includes the hospital response ,and community based response.

· Provide in person hospital based crisis/advocacy support, and or in person/ virtual community base crisis/advocacy support to survivors of sexual assault to include, but not limited to information regarding their rights, as well as making referrals.

· Connect survivors of sexual assault to the Advocacy Services Coordinator within the DC Rape Crisis Center who will provide short term ongoing advocacy support as needed.

· Provide daily shift reports, and elevate issues and programmatic needs.

· Issue spotting of any rights violations.

· Participate in regular group supervision and other meetings as required.

· Maintain individual and department goals, activity metrics and key performance indicators.

· Collect, track, analyze and complete data reporting in alignment with requirements for both the agency, as well as adhering to funder requirements.

· Promote, support and demonstrate the mission, vision and values of the DC Rape Crisis Center through both behavior, and job performance as well as adhere to policies, procedures, and standards on a day to day basis.

· Participate in internal and external trainings as needed.

· Participate in the SART feedback process.

· Making referrals to other organizations for services, to include legal services, mental health services, and other forms of advocacy and support.

· Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field.

· At least 1-3 years of experience in the field of social services, sexual assault crisis counseling, and or hotline/intervention experience is desired.

· Driver’s License and access to a car.

· Knowledge of issues of sexual trauma, and gender based violence.

· Proven experience with trauma informed direct services.

· Demonstrated cultural competency in working with diverse populations.

· A deep commitment to social justice, and anti-oppression work.

· The ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

· Shift work, and or on call experience a plus.

· Thrives in a dynamic environment.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Successfully pass a criminal background check.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Compensation is paid at an hourly rate. Additionally, The DC Rape Crisis Center will provide access to monthly group supervision, ongoing trainings, and professional development opportunities, as well as self -care, and wellness opportunities.

HOURS: Position is Contract.
