SUMMARY:

Alliance for HOPE International is seeking to hire a full-time Administrative Assistant to support the Camp HOPE America program. Camp HOPE America is the first and only evidence-based camping and mentoring initiative in the United States to focus on children exposed to sexual violence, domestic violence, and child abuse. Camp HOPE America operates in collaboration with Family Justice Centers, Multi-Agency Centers, and community-based sexual assault, domestic violence, and child advocacy agencies at no cost to the camper or their families. The vision for Camp HOPE America is to break the generational cycle of family violence and sexual assault by offering hope and healing to children who have been exposed to these forms of trauma. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, flexibility, excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as with domestic violence and sexual assault professionals and survivors across the country.

This position has the potential to be remote with the expectation of being present at the Alliance’s main office in San Diego, California on an as needed basis.


OVERVIEW OF ALLIANCE FOR HOPE INTERNATIONAL:

The Alliance, launched by Casey Gwinn, Esq. and Gael Strack, Esq. in 2006, is the only national social change organization focused primarily on developing collaborative, multi-agency and multi-disciplinary models to serve victims of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, elder abuse, and human trafficking. The Alliance oversees five core programs: The Family Justice Center Alliance, the Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention, Camp HOPE America, the Justice Legal Network, and the VOICES Survivor Network. RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an Administrative Assistant, you are responsible for supporting and assisting the National Director and team members of Camp HOPE America with organizational and administrative functions such as daily office tasks, scheduling travel, helping coordinate materials, organizing webinars, and a variety of other administrative tasks. The position also requires close work with staff members across the organization to assist with organizational and administrative functions needed in the daily operations of the Alliance. This position, when in the office, may alternate in staffing the front desk of the Alliance, being the first point of contact for the organization for visitors, incoming calls, and clients of attorneys co-located with the Alliance in the Justice Legal Network.


General administrative functions are as follows: 
  • Work with Camp HOPE America’s National Director and team to implement the vision, mission, strategic goals, objectives, activities, products, and outcomes of the Alliance and Camp HOPE America;
  • Provide administrative and organizational support to the Camp HOPE America team; 
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, including maintaining the Camp HOPE America program calendar;
  • Assist with scheduling and facilitating meetings and calls with existing Camp HOPE America sites, as well as informational calls with interested individuals and organizations;
  • Oversee the Camp HOPE America email inbox by responding to inquiries and organizing incoming emails in their respective files on Microsoft Outlook;
  • Assist with securing memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with Affiliated Camp HOPE America sites;
  • Attend and support the Camp HOPE America track at the Alliance’s Annual International Family Justice Center Conference;
  • Assist with the setup, planning, and implementation of webinars hosted by Camp HOPE America;
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, scheduling, and arranging travel for Camp HOPE America team members, including flights, hotels, and rental car services as needed;
  • Assist in all aspects of planning and coordination for Camp HOPE America events;
  • Willingness to travel to various Affiliated site locations during the summer for camp when additional support is needed;
  • Assist in the collection, organization, and distribution of surveys after camp for inclusion in the Camp HOPE America annual report created by the Hope Research Center at the University of Oklahoma;
  • Answer the main phone line for the Alliance. Calls received are for technical assistance and resources needed by domestic violence, elder abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking service providers or survivors;
  • Assist with grant reporting requirements, searches, and writing as needed;
  • Assist with donor materials, communication, and deliverables;
  • Occasionally assist with equipment setup and broadcast of webinar trainings hosted by the Alliance;
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Background in camping and mentoring (knowledge and experience with Camp HOPE America is preferred);
  • Background working in the domestic violence, child abuse and/or sexual assault community, with preference given to candidates with demonstrated passion for and experience working with youth exposed to trauma;
  • Ability to travel;
  • Commitment to the guiding principles of Alliance for HOPE International;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Professional oral and written communication skills;
  • Significant organizational and management skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Self-motivated;
  • Ability to work with diverse people and attitudes;
  • Ability to function as a cooperative and effective team member;
  • Knowledge and experience in basic computer word processing, email, internet, and publishing software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe programs, Constant Contact, Wordpress);
  • Ability to use cloud-based programs and other applications as identified;
  • Ability to maintain healthy boundaries and engage in necessary self-care.


SALARY AND BENEFITS:
  • $40,000 to $45,000 per year plus benefits, depending on experience.

The mental and physical safety of our staff is of utmost importance to us, therefore, we are temporarily working remotely, maintaining the most up-to-date COVID19 protocols. Because connection is also key in our organization, and in order to provide the highest level of personalized training, onboarding and initial employment period will take place at the Alliance offices in downtown San Diego while following local and statewide COVID19 safety protocols which will continue to be followed as our team slowly returns back to the office.

Regularly, the Alliance team spends the majority of time in a temperature-controlled office setting. The standard 40-hour workweek with an 8-5 shift applies. Some overtime may be required during the planning and execution of special events. Some national travel for events and technical assistance delivery may also be required. Moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, and light lifting is involved in many daily activities, as well as sitting at a desk, in front of a computer, for extended periods of time.
