The Controller plays a central role in the development, maintenance, direction, oversight of finance and accounting activities and HR administration. This is an opportunity for a proactive, hands-on with a track record of creative problem-solving and strengthening infrastructure in a mission-driven organization.

Responsibilities include:·        

  • Manage all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable transactions, billing, and cash receipts.
  • Responsible for year end audit and tax filings.
  • Manage relationships with external entities including banks, investment advisors, licensing and accrediting organizations, state charity registration, and insurance carriers.
  • Prepare grant and contract financial reports.
  • With the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, draft one to five-year budgets.
  • Conduct employee onboarding and educate newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations.
  • Organize and maintain personnel files. Ensure all employee records are up-to-date.
  • Administer compensation and benefit plans.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for employees’ queries on HR-related topics.
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS     

  • Meticulously detail-oriented, organized, and efficient.
  • Minimum of 5 years in NFP financial management.
  • Advanced degree in a finance-related field or a bachelor’s degree with a strong experience working in nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience supervising and supporting bookkeeping staff.

Salary

$43,000 - $50,000

Benefits

Generous paid time vacation and sick time; employer contribution toward health insurance; retirement contributions after two years of employment; 100% employee contribution 403B available. The Controller is required to be on-site 4-5 days a week for a total of 20 hours. The remaining hours may be fulfilled on-site or remotely.
