Amazon Watch is a dynamic nonprofit organization working to protect the rainforest, advance the rights of indigenous peoples in the Amazon Basin, and halt the advancement of the climate crisis. Amazon Watch is a woman of color-led organization that works in partnership and solidarity with indigenous communities across the Amazon as part of the international climate justice movement. Many of our allies across the Amazon are currently suffering from climate change related catastrophes, the onslaught of extreme far-right regimes, and the expansion of fossil fuel and other extractive industries.

We are seeking a passionate professional to serve as our Communications Associate. This is a position with a variety of work across the Communications Department; quick thinking and rapid response flexibility are as important as a longer term strategic planning mindset. Preferred Communications Associate candidates will have at least two years of professional experience working in the fields of media, communications, press or public relations or in a related field. We are open to candidates that might not have formal communications experience but have relevant movement, program or organizing experience, are enthusiastic about learning communications and are open to mentorship. The Communication Associate will be primarily responsible for supporting Amazon Watch’s Communication team, but will also collaborate with the Program and Development teams. The Associate will coordinate and maintain Amazon Watch media assets, support media strategy, provide some desktop publishing support, assist in the production of social media assets and help maintain the organization's communications calendar to further our campaigns for the advancement of indigenous rights and protection of the Amazon.
