Under the direction of the Chief Philanthropy and Growth Officer (CPGO), the Manager, Marketing Communications and Events maintains an understanding of organizational strategy and its incorporation into communication and people strategies. This position has an essential role in the planning and implementation of development and program communications to support the mission and vision of Crossroads4Hope (CR4H) by expanding awareness; engaging the public; attracting new audiences and volunteers; and supporting revenue growth. The position is responsible for print and digital content creation; management of the communications plan and all aspects of the organization’s Social Media presence; and support of development efforts, including but not limited to: funding appeals; third party events; and donor cultivation and solicitation activities.

Marketing Communications and Media Relations               

  • Develop and implement an annual communications strategy and media plan, and the tools to track and evaluate responses and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate the development of print and digital materials. 
  • Oversee Media Relations and the dissemination of information to the public. Work with media contacts to increase placement within print, TV/radio, website and social media. Develop and maintain a database of media contacts and distribution lists.
  • Effectively convey the story of CR4H and determine appropriate vehicle(s) for public distribution. 
  • Support CPGO in leveraging the Marketing Advisory Committee.
  • Recruit and train volunteers and interns in strategic messaging and CR4H programs, and provide proper tools to interface with the public at a professional level.

Events

  • Manage logistics and marketing communications for key program events that drive public awareness and engagement, and revenue (i.e. Wings of Hope, Strengthening Our Schools, Inspiring Hope, Chairperson’s Reception, and Alumni Event).
  • Secure venues, book entertainment, and/or speakers. Work with vendors and volunteer committees.
  • Act as key contact to community members for Third Party Events and ensure that all CR4H policies and procedures regarding these events are properly followed and implemented.

Volunteer Management

  • Develop a volunteer program that attracts and retains a diverse volunteer pool that meets the staffing needs of program, fundraising, and operations. 
  • Promote the benefits of the volunteer program, including presenting to outside groups.
  • Maintain volunteer data and tracking within Salesforce.
  • Coordinate volunteer orientations, training, development, and recognition and appreciation activities.

Other

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
  • Participate in CR4H committees as needed to ensure consistent messaging and event experience for attendees.
  • Accurately maintain records, opportunities, and tasks in Salesforce.
  • Maintain the Marketing and PR documents, and digital Media Library.
  • Participate in the creation of the annual budget process.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development.

 Minimum Experience and Background

  • BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, or PR, and 0-2 years of experience in event planning, fundraising, public relations and/or marketing, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously and liaising with stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
  • Experience leveraging Social Media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Hootsuite.
  •  Knowledge of creative design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and MS Publisher.
  •  Understanding of website design and management.
  •  Knowledge of CRM software such as Salesforce is preferred.
  • Proficient in computer (Microsoft Office, Google Apps) and communication equipment operation.
