Your position with TNC

The Human Resources Coordinator provides administrative support and coordination in one or more of the following human resource functions for multiple Chapters within the Western U.S: recruitment, talent management, training and development, time reporting, compensation and safety. Work location is flexible - Washington, Oregon and Colorado.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for supporting human resource functions and will provide assistance to all levels of personnel on various HR-related issues. Essential functions may include:

  • Assisting with recruiting, including job postings, candidate communications, interview logistics, and onboarding.
  • Tracking and communicating performance management, training requirements and deadlines.
  • Maintaining HR data, systems and files.
  • Generating and reviewing reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Preparing HR forms.
  • Serving as Youth Safety coordinator and primary or back-up time reporting coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

Level of Position: This is a junior position and duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.

  • Does not supervise any staff.
  • Serve as a team member for assigned projects.

Within the scope of the position, the Human Resources Coordinator will:

  • Maintain accurate personnel files; including processing new hire paperwork, data entry, maintaining online and hard copy files, preparing new hire materials, processing employment changes, responding to employee inquiries, and providing general administrative support.                                                                 
  • Provide updates to various HR systems.
  • Maintain and handle highly sensitive employee data.    
  • Coordinate efforts of special project activities within assigned functions.

Work Environment and Schedule

  • Work flexible and/or extended hours when needed.
  • Work is performed in an office environment and involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain. (Note: All TNC staff are currently working from home through at least April 4, 2021 due to COVID-19).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years of administrative or HR-related experience, Associate’s degree, or HR professional certification, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience organizing time, establishing priorities and managing diverse activities to meet deadlines.
  • Experience maintaining files, processing paperwork, data entry or related duties. 
  • Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people.
  • Experience working with MS Office software and database software.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Experience handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic understanding of, or willingness and ability to learn, fundamental HR concepts, processes, and services.
  • Solid knowledge of word processing, database management, and spreadsheet software, with ability to construct and produce reports.
  • Comfortable with technology and experience with, or ability to learn, Microsoft Outlook, PeopleSoft HRIS, video conferencing (Zoom), SharePoint, Box and other common office software

Auto Safety Policy

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers." Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.
