Tides Advocacy has over 85 partners who represent activists, donors, movement leaders, lawyers, researchers, and journalists who are promoting equity, justice, and dignity for all. They are engaged in ballot, electoral, and legislative campaigns as well as public education and charitable activities.

The Director, People & Culture will be the functional lead for all people and culture initiatives at Tides Advocacy. This strategic leader will be responsible for designing and implementing human resources best practices, effectively leading a high-performance HR team and cultivate a sense of belonging for every employee in a productive, equitable and inclusive workplace that ultimately supports the mission and vision of Tides Advocacy.
The Director, People & Culture will be a business partner, advisor and confidante to the Chief Executive Officer and her leadership team. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, strong-willed, and passionate leader with executive presence and an uncanny ability to persuade, influence and inspire people. The Director, People & Culture must be confident and comfortable with navigating a fast-paced and sometimes intense environment with high demands, managing ambiguity, and delivering tough messages or unpopular decisions. The Director must be innovative and flexible, able to “understand the big picture” and create plans that map how to accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives. An intellectually curious and passionate person who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo will thrive in this environment.
The Director, People & Culture will be based at Tides Advocacy office in San Francisco, CA and have two direct reports: HR Manager, HR Specialist.
