JOB OPENING: Part Time Community Partnership Coordinator

Historic Fair Hill is hiring a part-time, experienced, bilingual community partnership coordinator whose role will be to enact the founding vision of collaborative partnership with the Fairhill community. The Community Partnership Coordinator will:

• Engage HFH neighbors in discussions; listen to find out their wishes and desires for programs
• Work with the team to build programming around diversity and social justice initiatives 
• Increase the participation of children, youth, and adults in school partnerships, community gardening, and seasonal events
• Identify potential volunteers and leaders and recruit them to participate in the work

The Community Partnership Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Program Director and in partnership with the Garden Manager. Hours will be organized so as to maximize contact with residents. Examples of tasks that could be performed by the community engagement coordinator:  

• Arrange one-on-one and small group informal meetings with neighborhood residents; 
• Canvass the neighborhood door-to-door to invite people to specific events; 
• Follow up with event participants to gain feedback and invite them to continue;
• Coordinate and join with volunteers in school programs, gardening, and community events; 
• Lead history and school field trips;
• Recruit neighbors to serve as history tour guides; 
• Work with neighbors to plan and facilitate programming emerging out of the listening sessions, including possible social justice events; 
• Recruit neighborhood reading buddies and captains; 
• Network with local colleges to identify volunteers and interns; 
• Participate in additional programs that may emerge

Pay: The hours/days and duties of this position will vary through the year – average of 15hrs/wk - $15,600 a year

Qualifications: Outgoing, energetic person; ability to take initiative; willingness to work Saturdays; basic computer skills; conversational Spanish preferred; ability to work with children and adults

Buried here are American human rights giants such as Lucretia Mott and Robert Purvis, The years-long clean and green effort transformed the property into a place of rare and welcome natural beauty.  The founders of HFH envisioned and created an organization committed to community partnership and revitalization.

HFH has expanded the greenspace to four big community gardens that produce healthy food and offer youth training and peaceful community gathering places. In its neighborhood  schools, HFH has opened and staffs school libraries, provides books, reading tutors and Assistants for K-2 classrooms.
