The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), a global nonprofit organization working to improve health and health care, is looking for a Market Insights Lead. Located in Boston MA, IHI offers an array of solutions for organizations and individuals seeking to improve health and healthcare, including programs and products (both virtual and in-person) that individuals can enroll in for professional development and learning purposes. IHI continually develops new programs while also improving and repeating many of its flagship programs.

The Market Insights Lead is a new position focused on bringing the discipline of market research and mining of insights to help IHI ensure that our products and services are aligned with market needs and that we are properly supporting health care globally. He or she will report into the Head of Programs and will play a critical role in the development of a more robust market and customer intelligence engine to drive enhanced customer experience, new product/program development, and organizational strategy. The Market Insights Lead is responsible for working collaboratively with regions, program/product design teams, marketing, and other leaders across the organization to advise on market trends, needs, and demand for products and services, as well as on using targeted market insights to inform the selection, design, and development of new solutions.

As an integral IHI team member, the Market Insights Lead will be responsible for:

  • Building and managing a system that regularly draws on existing sources of market intelligence to help the organization identify any trends that have impact for IHI and to evolve and socialize a deeper understanding of IHI's key audiences and stakeholders
  • Bringing expertise in market research and insights to work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders and directly contribute to the successful design, development and launch of solutions that solve for the needs of our clients.

The ideal candidate is an energetic driver and strategic thinker, who can lead the collection of market intelligence, pull out the insights, and make recommendations for product/program strategies and design.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Market research
  • Lead the design, development, and execution of market research (whether conducted using internal resources or via an external third party), including identification of the key business objectives and learning questions for the research, creation of discussion guides, and facilitation of interviews and focus groups
  • Translation of market intelligence into insights
  • Identify and integrate relevant data sources to develop insights and build a strong point of view with supporting facts
  • Collaborate with leaders from across IHI's regions to transform raw market/customer information into meaningful and actionable insights
  • Develop high quality, executive level analyses with rational insight and conclusive business recommendations
  • Translation of insights into design and/or strategy
  • Acts as a key business advisor in the translation of market insights into concrete business recommendations and contribute to the development of product strategy and/or product design
  • Help generate ideas for new products or enhancements
  • Help product teams and marketing develop solutions positioning and messaging that differentiates IHI offerings in the market and clearly communicates the value propositions
  • Building the market intelligence system at IHI
  • Collect information from disparate sources and critically review, synthesize, integrate and effectively disseminate the insights throughout the organization
  • Own the aggregation and delivery of data and reports on markets, customers, and competition and funnel business-critical, high-quality market intelligence and strategic insights to Marketing, Program, Content Portfolios, Regions, and Executive teams
  • Develop and grow platforms and tools to distribute market intelligence and insights to the broader organization
  • Develop and maintain consultative relationships with key business stakeholders internally, proactively identifying and addressing intelligence needs while also tapping into existing market and customer knowledge
  • Cultivate shared understanding in every corner of the organization and facilitate cross-functional input with interactive workshops and sessions
  • Develop standardized tools, methodologies and supporting technologies for the MI function
  • Demonstrate knowledge of industry trends, value drivers, competitive activity
  • Organize and prioritize market research activities and management/development of internal and external resources available to carry out market research efforts

Position Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of product marketing and/or market intelligence experience, preferably in health care or related industry
  • Bachelor's in business or marketing; master's degree preferred
  • Skilled and experienced manager, strong leader of direct and matrixed teams
  • Very strong written communication skills
  • Willing to travel up to 25%
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and cross-functional teams, and third parties
